boxpin Posted August 20, 2010 Report Share Posted August 20, 2010 I built my own exhaust after the OBX downpipe. I removed my cat and am running 3" back to past the cross member. From there is goes down to 2 1/2, makes a turn and enters a flowmaster muffler where the factory muffler used to be. Out of the muffler is goes to the tail pipe but at the very last part of the tailpipe I have a glass pack right before the tip. Problem: Its loud, raspy and tinny sounding. I want to bring down the tone and decibles without adding a cat. I also do not want to go by the OBX system or any other products. I need thoughts, combinations, etc. Someone was selling a resonator in the for sale. It sparked interest but I just do not have the room. Did I choose the wrong muffler? sconeman Posted August 20, 2010 Report Share Posted August 20, 2010 remove glass pack and replace with small magnaflow. or remove both and replace with 1 larger(12x24x8) magnaflow under the rear bumper. that will be a little louder though. Maybe this weekend but need to get a cable to transfer files from video camera to PC.3" EST DP with high flow cat into 2.5" stainless pipe into 3" magnaflow muffler with 4" exit What else you got on your exhaust line? Keep Calm Chive On Posted August 21, 2010 Report Share Posted August 21, 2010 your fart can sounds like my OBX... minus the farty hora. as for the OP... your mixin & matchin, glasspack with flowmaster. your exhaust is confused & the noise you dont like is it screaming for help on its identity. Larger resonator single... then if thats too loud or wrong for you you can always put in a cat (i dont have one but i like it) Obviously i dont expect the OBX to last forever but when it does sh*t its gunna be really easy to make a copy of it with better material.
