Maybe this weekend but need to get a cable to transfer files from video camera to PC. 3" EST DP with high flow cat into 2.5" stainless pipe into 3" magnaflow muffler with 4" exit If you get a video of your exhaust, think you can PM me the link? project_850 Posted August 21, 2010 Report Share Posted August 21, 2010 You're using a chambered Flowmaster muffler? You should go with a straight through design like Magnaflow for sure. dublin14 Posted August 21, 2010 Report Share Posted August 21, 2010 I have a Custom 3" DP,Magnaflow racecat, and an EST catback. Very little drone, but also a little too quiet imo. These magnaflow mufflers seem to have a bit more bark and it might worth a try in place of the EST muffler. It a fine line wtih these 5 bangers with getting more throat and trying to avoid that shitty ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD drone that i personally cant stand! Mesoam Posted August 21, 2010 Report Share Posted August 21, 2010 its not the brand that matters its how the muffler is designed, most of flow master's stuff is chambered which should not be on a turbo charged car, you want the exhaust to be as straight through as possible on that note someone wasn't selling some TME resonators Get a borla or magnaflow muffler, IIRC everyone who has tried flowmasters on these cars hated the sound. Yes it is, I thought I'd post that to see if you thought it sounded different. iPD's setup also goes with a straight-through muffler, and my suggestion is that you ditch the chambered Flowmaster for a straight-through Magnaflow.. It fits the bumper cutout well. your fart can sounds like my OBX... minus the farty hora. I wouldn't doubt it's the same muffler boxed in a different enclosure. Mine just looks JDM. Wagoneer855 Posted August 31, 2010 Report Share Posted August 31, 2010 That does sound too harsh, it is tinny though. I personally like Ansa mufflers. Throw on two 3"x12" round ones off ebay and it'll sound great. Perfectly straight through design (they're more resonators than mufflers) and it'll sound great. No cheaper muffler out there and the quality is actually very decent, all stainless and polished. I'm running a single 12"x2.25" one on the 245. I wanted to run two but my bro liked how it sounded with just one, it is quite loud on an NA though. Anyways, just a cheaper and quite good sounding alternative to magnaflows.
