Volvoboi24
Well, I took out my old ALPHINE CD changer from my 850 and I was trying to wire things up when I noticed that the plugs were different... the pre wiring for hte C70 has a small male plug(i think? its the one that isnt a socket, but a plug?) and the cd changer is a bigger female plug... so I went to circuit city and bought adapter... but the problem is, the adapter has a socket for the cd changer but the other side is a male plug! so two males = angry me lol...So how do I wire this changer up? Do I have to run a wire from the headunit or can I somehow use the prewiring? I have a SC-900, bought that darn adtapter for 80 bucks, and Im pretty frustrated ...And finally would an factory volvo cd changer have a plug built-in the changer that will work on the pre-wired male-plug? FiveAlive
I'm guessing from what you say (my car wasn't pre-wired so it would be no good looking at that) that Volvo have put male connectors at both ends of the pre-wired cable. The adapter that you have bought is intended to plug into the back of the headunit and for you to ignore the pre-wiring completely. You will then need to run an Alpine cable all the way from the adapter to the changer, which in my experience is much easier than you'd expect. Or you can put the changer in the glovebox if it is small enough. The only way to re-use the pre-wiring would be to cut off the male connectors on the adapter and the pre-wired cable and splice the wires together - or get a factory changer which will plug straight in.FiveAlive
