aggarcia
I plan to drain and re-fill the automatic transmission on the 850R this weekend. My local parts supplier can provide Shell AFT for $30 a case or $50 for Amalie Synthetic. Any other fluid recommendation? Thanks for your input. Oreo931
Myself and many other members have had good experiences with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.
bergmjs
I've used the regular stuff and the synthetic in my mom's car, both improved shift quality, but the synthetic is supposed to last longer and be better and such. I had to issues with the regular $30/case stuff though. Also you should do a flush, not just a drain and refill as that only replaces ~1/3 of the fluid. Cal3thousand
Agree with both guys above. I start the flush with 2 Qts of Dino ATF. Then flush through with Mobil 1 until I feel all the Dino is gone (Until I get 1.5 Qts of pink fluid out at the end)
Keaton85
5 gallon pale of Warren ATF for $46, done! the whole synthetic deal on these trannys is a waste, in my opinion. It's just basic hydraulic fluid with some lubrication properties for the bearings. Having clean regular ATF will put you ahead of 99% of the commuter cars out there! Most have original fluid that looks like h3ll but shifts fine.
aggarcia
I had mostly Redline D+ and Mobil 1. I was trying to save a few dollars, but got a small unplanned bonus. I bought 2x 6 pk Mobil 1 cases. I will try flushing it over the weekend. Fluid is cheap, transmissions are not. AG
Keaton85
true fluid is cheap, but really, any fluid for these trannys is better then the crap that is in there most times.
