Vio-TT-R
I'm currently in the process of installing a single din Kenwood Excelon KDC-X794 into my car so i can fully expand my sound system in the near future. Here's my Questions: 1) Where can i find a Dash kit to fit a 2004 s60R? i've tried quite a few sources but came back with nothing. 2) I've heard talk of an adapter that is needed to convert from oem to rca for the factory amp? my previous vehicle was plug-n-play and seeing as i now have a volvo i expected more haha 3) How do i go about removing the factory radio. I have a decent amount of experience with stereo installation/soldering/etc however i've never disassembled a volvo dash it's quite a bit more then my previous installations. I hope to hear back soon Thank you so much Blake
Chilled man
1. Dealer $25.00 2. No clue never used the stock amp - go aftermarket 3. remove pen holder . remove 2 torks screws pull out CCM remove next two torks screws remove radio - make sure to disconnect batterie before removing CCM or you will end up with a CEL and Airbag light and ... 4. make sure to buy the ebay wirehanress kit = $10 shipped

BEJinFBK
now what did you use for a replacement for the factory amp? and could you link me to the ebay harness so i dont f up haha thanks in advance Hit eBay and search "Volvo Amp". You should see several DIN to RCA adapters, like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Volvo-Stereo-Radio-Aftermarket-HU-Factory-Amp-Cable-/200484953400?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item2eadd59d38 And I don't know if it's around for your year, but the Scosche dash kit is spot on. It looks like this in an '06: http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?144947-New-HU-with-factory-amp

I hope to hear back soon Thank you so much Blake If it's like my '05 V70R and I ain't sayin' it is (disclaimer) this will get you started: http://www.installer.com/pdf/99-9226.pdf Be sure to remove the neg batt terminal and wait at least 5 min (that's what "they" say anyway!) to avoid any nasty codes you'd have to pay a dealer to clear - since you'll probably be disconnecting the climate control connector to get the radio cage out. On mine, I used the amp in the new head unit and fished out the speaker cable bundle that goes from behind the radio, down the passenger side of the tranny hump to the amp under the passenger seat and spliced it into the wiring adapter Crutchfield sent me along with the Scosche dash kit. BTW, I practically buy everything on eBay, but I always find that when doing an initial install in any car, you can't beat Crutchfield's total price with their install kit freebies and free shipping. Vio-TT-R
Finally got all the required parts to get this system done here's just some pictures of the process!!! =D Pre Solder Wire Harness: Post Solder/Shrink Wrap/Splice Wire Harness: Finished Product: BTW just a comment as to how amazing the system sounds it's quite amazing how the aftermarket reciever expands the sound quality in stock speakers. Also sounds pretty great with 2 12" Alpine Type E's...Truly shows the integrity of a Volvo there's absolutely no rattling.
