97 White Wagon Posted September 8, 2010 Report Share Posted September 8, 2010 My 97 850 GLT Wagon does not have any speakers in the D Pillars. It now has the SC815 Premium Sound radio in it. But it had been changed out from the original radio by the previous owner. So I can only assume that the radio it had did not come with the rear D Pillar speakers. I see the wiring & plugs when I remove the covers. But there does not seem to be anywhere to mount speakers. Does it require a special unit that holds the speaker? I keep my rear seat down quite a bit for traveling and so the rear door speaker sound is mostly lost. And I thought if I installed the D Pillar speakers it might help. Any info. is appreciated. TyConn Posted September 9, 2010 Report Share Posted September 9, 2010 the d pillar speakers in the 850s mounted onto the panels themselves, the covers you are talking about that look like speaker grilles are what the speaker is normally mounted on, not the pillar itself! hope this helps out out. also if you go this route, do NOT source volvo oem speakers for this, they are quite possibly the shittiest tweeters i've ever found, not to mention they throw off the sound balance A LOT.
