What Size Down Pipe?

I swapped out the 13g turbo on my 99 GLT with a 16t. I also added blue injectors. I want to complete all mods before investing in a tune. I've been thinking of a 3" DP, sport cat or truck cat, and 2.5" the rest of the way back. Someone told me a 3" DP will give me more top end power, but I will lose low end response and suggested I go with a 2.5" downpipe.

What is the diameter of the stock downpipe I have on there now? It's a 1999 with an angled flange.

Opinions on which way I should go? I'm not a streetlight racer, Anything that comes up usually starts after I'm already rolling a bit.

Thanks for your input.

Does this "someone" have any idea about downpipes? :o Get a 3" and be done with it. If you compare a 3" performance DP to the factory DP, you will see how the turbo is being choked by the stock DP. As my signature shows, I'm running a 3" EST DP, and I think my car is somewhat fast.

3" dp, 2.5" cat back.

I have an OBX, noticed a loss in low end (quickly forgotten and def gone after tune) Got a magnaflow hi-flow cat put on and lost some top end, its deeply missed <_<

Do the whole exhaust, its worth it. If you want custom, dont go to midas or mieneke, go to an independent shop.

Question, how does that 16t feel compared to your 13g on your stock tune?

Ballsy. It throws an overboost code every time I get on it. I'm afraid of running too lean so I try to drive sensibly until I get the tune. I know the ME-7 is making up for it somewhere, but it seems to be adding power anyway. It definitely seems to spool up quicker. I'm definitely not getting the full effect. I am anxious to get a tune, but want to get the exhaust in first.
