maiku
just wondering about power interters, if i shove a 75W inverter in there (for my laptop) does it last forever for as long as you're driving the car?
Guest ksmyarse
Check out mp3car.com's forums for anything you ever wanted to know about carpcs. There was a guy who did a carpc install in an 850 but his site isn't up anymore. I had a decent setup in my 240 so I'm working on transfering to my 850...I'm just not comfortable tearing the dash apart on it yet (and it's too cold to do fiberglass right now)

I think I'm getting a 400w inverter just so I can run other appliances if there is a need.

bogelo
I had a homemade computer on my 960 back in 1999. But it's just such a hassle (the computer too slow). I was running 400Mhz celeron with baby-AT case. I was using 300 watts audiovox power inverter. You have to watch out for heat coming out from your computer (your computer will freeze if it gets too hot. I put some heatsink also on the top of the hard drive. I used the remote mouse for navigating the windows.I don't have any pictures, sorry :)

Guest ksmyarse
Jozone - You can get cheap screens on ebay but I'd suggest a screen by Xenarc or Lilliput. They both make 7" touchscreen lcds that have VGA in that are designed for car use. The Xenarc is higher quality, but the Lilliput is cheaper. You can find both on ebay or other online stores and the forum I linked above has an unbelievable amount of discussions on both screens. Also if you want it to install into a single DIN slot you can get non-motorized pullout screens with the Xenarc or Lilli transplanted into a different case from http://digitalww.com/
