garyfb
Not sure if this is the correct forum, but here goes. I am considering buying a 2000 S80 with 150,000 miles on it. Engine sounds fine and I let it sit in my driveway for several days and let it idle for awhile. I don't see any leaks at all from the engine, etc. It needs some work for inspection (front brakes/rotors, 2 front tires, tie rods). I can do most of the work myself. I may be able to get it really cheap, since the guy just wants to get rid of it. Possibly $350 My quesiton is is it worth it to buy to use as a second car ? I have a 95 850, but was wondering if there are any things that the S80's are noted for problem-wise with this many miles. Any feedback is appreciated. Ihatespeedbumps
That's awfully cheap for not needing much work. I would be suspcious you aren't getting the full story... Do a little research on the GM transmission that was in the S80, and be prepared to put one in this car. The 2000 model wasn't the best ever made (electrical, transmission and build quality issues), but if it's that cheap you can afford to sink a little into it. The guy selling it is my son's boss. It was his wife's car and they just don't need it anymore. If I can get it that cheap I was thinking the same thing. Even if I have to put a little money into it it's probably worth it. I may get it for my daughter to take to Philly next year for school. If something happens to it down there I won't be too upset. Thanks again.
mustang
Have these been replaced/repaired yet? Timing belt Transmission ABS module ETM module Strut mount bushings Agree $350 sounds like there are some issues.
JRL
If it's a T6 don't bother, it probably has a bad tranny. If it's a 2.9 and not cosmetically damaged and running, it's worth 1500 at the auctions, wholesale, buy it
