So you're getting smoke from the tailpipe and from around the turbo area? Are you sure your coolant / oil lines are nice and tight going to the turbo? Either liquid could be leaking from those banjo bolts onto the hotside and burning off the hot downpipe causing some smoke from around there.

The turbo to downpipe interface is a mechanical seal, so as long as both sides are free of burs it should go together without any leaks.

It may be in another one of your posts, but what was the condition of the turbo when you had it out of the car?

UPDATE:

NO MORE SMOKE!!! :) :)

Well, not more than acceptable at least. I went out on Halloween to test it and video the smoke to post here. Camera and car ready, I was expecting smoke at the :30 mark as usual. That's when irony struck. It started to smoke a bit, but never got to a cloud.

So I topped the oil, coolant, ATF, AND PS fluid (fixed minor leak at the pump) drove it for a while and even got into about 4 PSI of boost. Kept checking for smoke.... nothing. Lifter tick is pretty much gone as well. Sooooo nice to have my car back. BIG difference going from my Pop's diesel W140 back to my Turbo

Anyhow, just wanted to put closure to the thread and to THANK EVERYONE that chimed in; I wouldn't have gotten through this without VS. I love this place.
