This is an ENGINE REMOVAL DIY, but the Flex Plate info is in Step #63:

That's actually the one I read before I started tearing into this. That guy put a ton of time into documenting that.

Last one I did didn't want to come out with a pic or screw driver so I did this...worked like a charm!

This is what my mechanic did:

1. Drill 2 pilot holes in the seal flange, taking care not to damage the sealing surfaces (crankshaft or outer surface).

2. Insert 2 sheet metal screws then pull the seal.

3. Keep the old seal for driving in NEW seal.

I posted the pic recently but here it goes. Info from Honda CRV but the idea is the same.

make sure to lubricate the new one with oil. I just tapped one side in a little and the other side popped out. Used the old one to put in the new one!

Um NO> Great way to let it seep. Perhaps a tad in the inner against the rotating portion. But it's not needed, I have done quite a few never had a leak, longest one is at 25k so far.

Yeah, I read up on that. I'm glad I did since I've never touched a transmission before.

So, I drain the TC, then put it back in and it will get filled back up when it's in?

I wish I had read up before installing the damn TC onto the flywheel first ... :( ... oh well... here's to more experience

as for the TC, I've heard to fill it with Qt of fluid before putting in... anyone confirm?

Too bad you are wrong sir. A great way to let it seep would be to not lubricate it. Your lucky that you haven't had a leak. You always lubricate seals before you put them in to make a complete seal all the way around.
