Help please This happened to me because I forgot what my code was and was too lazy to go look it up so the radio locked. You need to turn the battery on (car doesn't have to be running) and the radio has to be on for either 2 - 4 hours depending on what your manual says. Here's the full details from another post elsewhere which I have cleaned up with accurate information The radio will only display EEE or OFF when the wrong code has been entered and the radio is locked depending on model - this is due to the battery being disconnected and the incorrect radio code being entered 3 times. You will need to reset the radio. To do this the radio has to be on for either 2 or 4 hours - see the manual for your model. When the radio is "ready" to accept an unlock code the display will say "CODE". If you got the code from a card from Volvo based on your VIN, and it didn't work, then the radio has been changed and your current code is invalid. You will have to pull the radio and find the serial & model number on the back, and get the dealer to look up the radio code from Volvo. You will need this code if your battery is ever disconnected.
