850T5M
Im installing my 3" DP and 2.5" Cat-back soon. Just wondering which Cat I should install with it. I found a 3" Magnaflow with ceramic and a 3" Magnaflow with a metal core...anyone know the difference? Im looking for the quietest possible, least smelling exhaust possible, but still free flowing Ceramic ah? lol Oh also, does anyone know of a good Cat (in case the magnaflow's suck) Thanks
aggarcia
I am going through the same process. I am leaning towards a Random Technologies unit. They cost more but will flow better. It is all about more flow right?
lookforjoe
Search for "2.5" Catalytic Converter High Flow T409 SS - O2 Nut" (or 3") on eBay - under $50 from performance-curve. Unless you're in CA, it will be fine.

850T5M
I dont have a rear O2 sensor on my car I'd need a cat without a whole in the back lol...any other suggestions? Would the smell/sound be any different between ceramic and metallic?
Che'_Moderator
Metallic monoliths just hold up better. Can take more abuse in both heat cycles and impacts.

So would a Magnaflow 59959 be a good choice? Metallic core, 3", SS Spun, about 140$ shipped.
bergmjs
So would a Magnaflow 59959 be a good choice? Metallic core, 3", SS Spun, about 140$ shipped. Well whatever you do, don't pay $140 for it. http://www.google.com/products?q=Magnaflow+59959&hl=en&scoring=p
850T5M
Its the shipping that always kills me...I'm gonna check that first site, I'll probably pay it 100$ with shipping. Thanks a lot!
GltGreco
Well whatever you do, don't pay $140 for it. http://www.google.co...hl=en&scoring=p thats the cat i have, i believe i paid 79 shipped, works great, only flaw is the casing around it (purely protective/looks) started to vibrate so i took it off. Would the smell/sound be any different between ceramic and metallic? If you find a good deal on what you want/need and it has a rear O2 hole, buy a plug for a couple of dollars and move on... 850T5M
So I decided Im gonna go with a metallic core Cat. Any difference between the Magnaflow or the Thunderbolt? They have maybe a 5$ difference, same in/out size (3"), same cell count (300) and same center diameter (4")...basically the same cat?
