(n)A-GAME
225/40/18 rubs on S70's. You'd probably want a 215/40/18 if the roads are bad by you, or 215/35/18 if the roads are good.

Thanks sounds like I'd be better off going with 17" rims.

Go with 225/35 if you want the wide tire or 215/40 if you don't want any chances of rubbing.
andyb5
If you want to compare the diameters of different tire sizes, use this calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
laird
You really need to see individual tire specs because one manufacturers 225/35 may be very different from another. Tire Rack has a pretty good reference.
aggarcia
I have 18x8 on my 850R and run 215/40/18. No rubbing under normal driving, but stock height. I am planning to lower the car next month. AG
Volvowith18psi
225/40's I dont rub under normal driving and light turns afaik. Trying to park and make U turns is a totally different animal (IPD Springs +18x8)
OzzieOzzieOzzieOiOiOi
I've got 18 x 8 and 215/40 and plenty of rubbing- esp on drivers side. I think my T5R is factory lowered though. Next time I will be going for 225/35 as I think the increased rolling diameter has caused most of the rubbing- not the tyre width.

Trying to park and make U turns is a totally different animal (IPD Springs +18x8) 225/40s on 18x8 pegs rubbed like crazy on my S70 with TME springs. The car was not drivable with a passenger in the back. I ended up rolling the rear fenders and using 5mm spacers. Now things are pretty good. It will only rub in front on full lock and there is a minor inner rub in rear when turing onto a ramp.
