^^^^ LOL

is there any successful 235/35/r18 or 235/40/r18 runners here? i wan to run 235's

or more like i would need too...

You could do it with an aggressive offset wheel (to get the tire away from the strut) and some fender rolling. In the rear the only problem would be the fender, rolling should help that.

I'm cutting my fenders and plan on running 235/35/18s for my next set of tires. Only problem there is that the drivetrain probably won't be able to handle that much stick when launching and you'll start breaking stuff. But we'll see :)

235/40x18's work on my V70 - no rubbing in the rear, but 5mm spacers needed in front or they really rub. I understand the inne wheel well is differently shaped on an 850 though, that's what has been explained by others.

You're lucky  It seems that the XCs got larger wheel wells, I've tried 235/40 R18 on my S70 before, and there is no way in hell any amount of offset motification could get it to be rub free, unless I rolled the fenders :(

I wonder if it's the AWD rear suspension that changes things - the inner body panels & skirts are all the same between x70 models.

Hm, interesting. From what I can tell, the front and rear track is the same on the FWD and AWD cars too.

I was getting ridiculous amounts of rub on the outer fender going over bumps on both the front and rear, and lots of rub anywhere close to full lock in the front on the inside, on OEM 18" pegs.

would it make any sense to do

225 in the front

235 in the rear?

or should it potentially be the other way with fwd cars?

because thers good and bad answers for all the same cars its make for a very hard decision!

Don't bother with stagger unless you're running a drag only setup, then get the widest front tires you can. Larger rears than fronts on an understeering FWD car is a silly idea

aha this is tru, i just want the biggest size tire i can get becuase with my engine build goal i'm gunna need it, and it's definatly gunna be dragged and tracked so i might aswell just go with track tire ideas cuz drag wont be that often for me anymore

Manual Swap with Quaife B) and some TD 17x7 or 7.5 rims W/ 225/45/17 tires No rubbing with 5mm spacers, fits BBK durable light and pratical for potholes etc...

I make 330+ wtrq and have plenty of traction, DON'T skimp on tires.

And Get some steelies for drag tires

As i said before, not having at least 225s on a modded 850/S70s looks great until you see it drive away, or on the hwy from the back and all of a sudden the car looks weak. Reminds me of a chick with huge breast and twigs for legs.... the balance is off. Just like any performance car.... lowered/level and low-pro fat tires are the recipe for great looks, and our cars need all the help in the stance department that they can get.
