PyROTech
i understand some shady dealers doing this on second hand lots. But a big dealer has alot to loose from this. Not to mention someone is going to find out at some point.

CoRalV70
Wow...i forgot about the audis i gotta tell this story. There were two black exact twin 1998 Audi A4 1.8T's, both with around 50k or so on them one with a bad knock, one was mechaniclly sound. A customer testdrove the good one, and bought it. and at delivery they recieved the messed up one with a full oil change of gear lube.... the car returned a few days later with a seized motor and they had to pay for a new motor. the ünderstüdy
Isn't it the potential buyers responsibility to ask for or get their own carfax?
JoshV70
Isn't it the potential buyers responsibility to ask for or get their own carfax? Why would you do that on a brand new car?
Commander Riker
I just emailed and asked if all new cars come with a carfax report. :D
Dick Dastardly
this kind of stuff goes on at a lot of dealers no matter what the make. I worked in the collision dept. of a Ford dealership in Cleveland...the service guys were good honest guys (really!) but the sales dept was the shadiest bunch of drunk assholes you ever met...that story sounds too familiar, right down to the drunk driving sales guy crashing a new car on his lunch break. They tried to get the service dept. and collision dept. to cover up the wreck..the service director refused and after a lot of arguing he said he would call the cops on the sales guys..dealerships suck...(so do used car lots) I know from other techs and writers, this goes on a lot and they just have to fix whatever they are told to and have look the other way if they want to keep their job..
