Longbeachz' Motor Non-Swapage

Recommended Posts

Recently my dad gave me his side impact crashed 2001 V70 T5 which I am going to put in my 855

I am in the process of removing the engine and other things

other than the camshaft sensor, and old style intak manifold what will I need to make this motor work?

Im keeping my M56H so I was told by Justin (Chilled Man) that I can keep my power steering rack

do I just pop out that metal plate where the distributor/cap/rotor would usually go and put on mine or do I have to grind that plate out..

Also unfortunately due to an enemy of my fathers, the car has had bleach poured into its gas tank and we have flushed the tank and replaced the fuel pump

it drives but it seems like the transmission is redlining at 4 thousand RPM hoping that would Limp mode?

Is this engine completely fawked, seals and such..from the bleach?

anyways sorry for the long post Ill post pics later and update this

If you take a screwdriver and poke it right through the center of the rear cam plug, you can pry it out. You'll need to grind or drill out the rear of the cam slightly to allow the plate that the rotor button bolts to, to fit in. Also may need to use the cam position sensor from the 850. Again you will need to enlarge the end of the cam to make it fit also.

Or you can switch to COP and ditch the distributor, like you should

hahah I wish!! maybe when Turbotuner supports It all snag one..

Ok so after the hour or so in chat discussin this with the many people of VS..

Im going to just get the head, japanifold, blues, oil pan oilcooler anything else you guys can think of?

apparently the 2001 has the same rods as my 850 so why upgrade...

fail fail fail. 01 motor swap is a walk in the park and 20 times better than that pos in ur car

cam sensor bolts up fine no problem, drill and tap the intake cam for the dizzy and use all your accessories, done.

so essentially you will be using the bare longblock from the 01.

sounds good boss! ill keep you all updated!

Ozzimark was going to send me his '02 piston/rod combo which has the longer rod and shorter piston..

idk..

im going to re-seal everything on the block im taking out and make sure its going to last me a while

then its time for TurboTuner :)

(got my 5 coilpacks ready to go!)

yea now you just have to wait for cop to become available <.<

i dont think the 02 rods are logner...but the pistons are shorter if the 02 has a 93mm crank. my 01 has the same lenth rods as my 04 motor.

edit: god im so baked right now, it does have longer rods and shorter pistons than your stock motor, forgot we are comparing to an 850 motor.

what coilpacks do you have any how do you know what coilpacks tt will support?

OEM >5k miles 2001 T5 coilpacks and im assuming TT will support a variety of dif kinds...

I almost got my head off no time to work on it :(

hey MDLIMY any idea if the 01 rods and pistons are any stronger than my 97's?

I know about the cooling windows in the crankcase and the lighter crank etc etc etc tho

from what i can see they look stronger.

doubt it will support different types of coil packs, unless they are actually smart for once and allow different preset settings for different coilpacks or allow you to change the settings on them...but we will see i guess, not like it matters to me, im more anti-tt than any single person on this forum

Yea I wanted megasquirt forver!

standalone is OH so much better :) always is, always will be.

I guess im going to pull the motor (Already in progress) get it all nice and spiffy, then throw it in the 850 (after I get me a 960 TB and 850 na plate and port/polish the shttt out of the 01 head :)

Going to grab me a GT30 or Gt2871r to slap on that bad boy (I got a GT35r that needs a rebuild, thinkin it might be a bit to much tho ;)

Same PN, so, no.

you are going by the book, i am going by what i have seen with my bare eyes from motors i have torn down, the rods out of my 01 are NOT the same as the rods out of a 97 motor, along with many other things vadis says i have found to be untrue.
