bobbyblue
I've tried a few different brands but still have read / playback problems. I burn a lot of CDs on my Mac, and it has no problem with read / play, but my in dash 8xx CD player does. Anyone have a brand of CDR to recommend? Cal3thousand
Thanks... Any Sony CDR will do? What ever you do, don't get the black backed ones. I had those for making Playstation (yes, the original one) copies, but they failed horribly for use in our headunits.

bobbyblue
Thanks. I am testing mix downs this week end- I use the Volvo as a car stereo test, so I'll try few brands..
ozzimark
I find that I don't have any issues with CD-Rs as long as they're written at 4x speed.. Annoying, but at least it works.

Big Will
I remember I did a lot of testing on this a while back and at least in my tests, what mattered was that the CD-Rs had to be finalized completely before the Volvo headunit would play it. That means that it has to be a 1 time burn CD-R. Most CD-Rs can have information added to them (the information already there can't be changed of course but info can be added) so you need to find CD-Rs that can only be written to once. I think some programs also give you the option to finalize the disc after you burn it so information can no longer be added. In my experience, the write speed didn't matter. RZT5
Do you remember what brand of CD-R's worked for you will?
Big Will
Yes for a time I was using a CD-R made by Maxell that was gold-colored and explicitly said on the packaging that it was a 1-time only burn so once you burned something onto it, it couldn't be added to. All of the music burned onto those CD-Rs still plays in my 901. I think some Sony discs also worked but I'm confident that any CD-R can be made to work if your software gives you the option to truly finalize the CD. RZT5
If I cant fix it with software I'll go try and find some of those, thanks for the tip!
