Heating System

I see the light for the air condition switch and the recycle switch flash when I start the car. I've never seen this before I also noticed the fan isn't blowing at all, are the lights flashing indicating something other than the motor being blown or should I look deeper?

Welcome to the Angery AC club.

Means somethings wrong with your system.

And if its not blowing, its your blower motor, or resistor.

go to the jy, spend 20 minutes, and $20 to get both of those.

Throw the resistor in you pocket. and the motor on the table.

replace yours, and enjoy the AC

thanks guys, and where might the resistor be located

if you know where the blower motor is located, just left to that motor, there is a square electrical device there. that is the resistor... once you have pulled it out, it has cooling fins behind it.

cheers!

sorry...i don't want to hijack anyones thread, but can a faulty resistor cause the fan to work intermitantly?

i have no heating, no lights on the heater unit control panel and i can't retreive a code from A5? to determine were the fault lies.

the blower motor seems to work randomly though...kinda weird?

any opinions/pointers gratefully received.

B2 is what you want.

Yes sorry, I was going from memory on the port...I can't get a fault code from that port. All the other ports are ok, so i wondered if the resistor could possibly be the culprit?

i believe what czar meant was B1 port, the one in the corner of B connector anyways. :P

intermittent blower problem usually comes down to blower motor itself. since once it starts to spin, it won't stop and cause problem.

you have electronic climate control for sure? (temperature setting and variable fan speed instead of just hot/cold dial and 1234 fan speed) only electronic climate control have diagnostic capabilities. and with electronic climate control, the blower motor resistor is actually a power stage. with this electronic part, once it fails, 99% of the time it doesn't start to work again without replacement of the power stage. blower motor is a "electrical" appliance, meaning that it will somehow come back to live when the condition is right

cheers!

I have the motor and the resistor I couldn't bring my self to put the resistor in my pocket so I paid for it. I'll be doing the replacement tomorrow.

..good for you. i don't have a problem paying for things as long as I feel the JY is being fair with me.

Hopefully it fixes the problem. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Im at a lost now, the blow motor wasn't the problem I don't have voltage at the motor but the fuses are passing voltage. Are the resistors different on some models, I got one out of a 94' not thinking it would be different so back to the drawing board.

Did you get a manual CC resistor or an ECC resistor? They are different.
