C70 Factory Amp

So This will be my writeup on how to use a factory C70 4X100 amp in your 850, S/V70, Despite the fact some people think they are Junk "Cough Justin Cough" :P

They are made by alpine and to me for a few buck's and a little time why not use it

Part's List

1 C70 4x100 amp

1 aftermarket raido harness

1 factory radio harness got to a junkyard and cut it out of a junk car Just the big plug

14 pieces 22gauge wire can all be the same color but i used wire's i stripped from a 850

2 6pin din pulgs kinda like this 6-pin-din.jpg

As for the length of wire you will need it depends on where you want to mount the amp for me im going to put it under one of the front seats so i only needed like 6ft

To start you will need the aftermarket and factory raido harness, on the factory one ther is 10 wires on it but we will only be using five the 5 you need are the 2 green/brown 1 black 1 yellow/purple 1pink the rest you can cut off as close to the plug as you can.

Now you need to wire the five wires from the factory harness to the aftermarket one, It's not hard just look to see what wires go where and how you wire it is up to you, But i soldered mine

2 green/brown goes to the yellow 12v+

yellow/purple goes to the red ign/switch

pink goes to the orange dash/illum

and one of the 2 black "dont matter what one" goes to the black wire DUH

End result should look something like this

1101101416-00.jpg

And this is how it all get's hooked up

1101101710-00.jpg

Now your looking at this and thinking WTF!! Well this is how we get power to the stock headunit but not powering the speakers with it WHY ?? Cuse We want the speaker's powered by the amp not the headunit DUH :P

ok so now lets move on to wiring the speakers this is how the c70 amp is setup

1101101750-00.jpg

now wire them from the amp to the speaker wires on the aftermarket harness

sry no pic yet waitng on shrink tube to get here then ill post the pic's but here is the harness i made for them

1101101621-00.jpg

as you can see there is 2 there the other harness is for the input to the amp

Now on to the input get your 2 6pin din pulgs and your harness and solder them pin to pin

again im waiting on the pulgs to get here but you can see what goes where. The pin's on the back of the headunit and on the amp ARE the same

Here is how i have things hooked up right now all is working just fine

A few questions:

1. Is the amp mounted down or just sitting there?................................... Just sitting there

2. Does it block the rear floor heat vent or does the vent blow over the amp? ..........Yes but i never use the floor heat

3. Also, how would you characterize the sound difference? ...............Good over all Big difference in the low's mid's and high's

Also The Main reason i am using this is the SC-901 has no intergrated amp so if i were to just hook it up with no amp i would get NO Sound out of it at all

Im thinking over the winter ill make a new harness and run it into the trunk

can i do this to use my 4x50 V70R amp? i have needed a harness forever... im not good with electrical shit but hell ive waited forever to find a reasonable priced amp & never happened. Only a local shop said 75 darra to pull the amp harness because labor is pretty insense... remove stereo. remove armrest chanel thingy around shifter. remove. done thats 50$ in labor...

Where did you tap power for the amp from ?

Good Write up !

I just used a 8gauge amp wire from the Batt+ and Grounded it to the Seat bolt

im really not sure on how the speaker wires are on that amp, Ive never had one but as for the input harness it should be the same

idk what that means :( there are 2 plug spots on the 4x50w amp. I saw your green one is empty so I would do the same? and from there its taking an OEM harness for the part into the amp & then a metra one to plug into my stocker?

Sorry, if its that much different I wont bug you about it. I have just had this amp forever & was originally pumped to put it in. As time has gone on & shit Im kinda just like meh with the thing although I heard that the 4x50w amp + the tweeter mod makes for some pretty good stocker sound

Amplifier speaker outs are RF-,RF+,LF-,LF+ top, bottom, RR-,RR+,LR-,LR+.

You make mention of wiring pin to pin on the DIN audio cable. The amp side would have to be the mirror to the radio side(not mentioned). Center pins IIRC 2,5 would remain the same, with the others being reversed. Of course, image could just be mislabeled. Nice write up so far.
