Furious E
So I'm supposed to be driving five hours to PA tomorrow and can't get my car to start, so I need to resolve this issue rather quickly. Any and all help would be appreciated. So here's the situation: 1.) Car won't crank, no clicking noises 2.) Checked ground wires a.) One of the leads from the negative terminal has corroded out of its lug at the end that attaches to what I think is the starter motor b.) Soldered on new lug to no luck 3.) Headlights, windows, flashers all work, stereo does not turn on however the ani-theft light is blinking still 4.) Headlights dim when attempting to crank engine over, so the starter must be getting power i would think What else can I try and test? I found a thread about some relays next to the fuse box (fuses are all good btw). What symptoms would those cause? What I don't get is why the stereo wont work, as the fact that there appears to be current going to the starter seems to suggest a fault there. weston97glt
there are relays under the fuse box, one of which is a fuel pump relay. It is red and says 103 on it. Could possibly be it.
Keaton85
Have you tried jumping it? Sounds like a dead battery.
bum2kev
close all the doors, lock the car then unlock it. the immobilizer is on and this is the only way to do it.

Could be this...but it seems like the battery is dead because the headlights dim when he attempt to crank the engine.
Zappo
Could be this...but it seems like the battery is dead because the headlights dim when he attempt to crank the engine. The headlights would go out completely and not come back if the battery were dead. The starter would try to take the remaining power from the battery. I doubt it is a battery problem. The two ideas stated above are more likely the cause.

sunnyhours4130
Did this get figured out? Has OP taken a multimeter to the battery? Or tested with multimeter at the starter when cranking?

I think he got his answer and is on his way back to PA p.s. is it just me or does "multi quote" not work anymore? Firefox 3.6.
KlausC
It could be the electrical portion of the ignition switch. Your headlights are supposed to turn OFF when the starter engages. And there is no lead from the negative post to the starter. Do check the positive leads from the battery for corrosion.
