iBoost Posted November 24, 2010 Author Report Share Posted November 24, 2010 Agreed, they don't just blow for no reason. when considering I have a 150k mile motor that had never seen boost over ~8 psi and powerlevels over stock since the last 30k miles It has been run at around 19-24psi within that window and has seen more detonations and harsh conditions than most, i give it props for its valiant efforts most likely the original stock headgasket even under normal conditions they do fail over time. I am puttin in a 2001 v70 T5 block, the head has been HEAVILY ported and polished by yours truly with my trusty dremel Japanifold has been fully ported and turbo exhaust housing to match GT30 and TT on the way :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

No. Never seen a gasket fail "over time" and I work on lots of white blocks with over 200K. I don't give a shit what nickle ass setup you are running. The headgaskets on these cars just don't go randomly unless a problem caused by something else takes it out. Even when everything is fine on a tuned setup, think of it as a safety fuse, I'd rather take out a headgasket than bend a rod.
