TryingBe
i am very interested in this... i would love to do this, but it seems very very involved.... As involved as doing a timing belt.
(n)A-GAME
How do you figure? Changing a timing belt does not involve removing cams. Also be nice to know what kind of real world gains would come from a mod like this, as opposed to simply leaving VVT unplugged. I get that in an ideal world there would be no cam movement from the VVT flopping around, but will it actually make that much of a difference? Maybe Jon can contribute some impressions to this thread.
ajhehr
is not a manditory thing. jon ran his car for over a year with no problems. however. if you want to set your camshafts without removing the VVT you can forget doing it scientificaly. you just have to get lucky... or unlucky... I do think this is a manditory mod if running a NA head or dual vvt head. some will say you have to have it. others will say you dont. if i had a built motor though (wait a tick i do!)or even a moor you care about, i would defanately want to know for a fact that the cam is where I want it, not where it wants to be. so if you dont want an VVT delete plug, anyone want an intake manifold? ozzimark
so if you dont want an VVT delete plug, anyone want an intake manifold? Got a dyno plot showing the effect it has on VE? :D

ozzimark
do you want dyno or flow bench... if dyno you wouldnt believe me. I prefer dyno, I vaguely recall the flowbench numbers from your previous thread on them, and remember how consistent the flow was across all 5 cylinders. Flow numbers alone don't mean a whole lot to mean though, the way things work in a dynamic situation to create power is the more realistic answer, even if you say I won't believe you :)
