Specter86
I've got some fogs out of a junkyard I was wondering whatelse I need to make them work? I got the switch and the lamps I heard I need a headlight relay? Thanks in advance
beewerks
Apart from the foglights and dash switch, you'll need the Light Control Relay that is located under the fuse panel under the hood. The panel is held on by 4 torx screws and the relay you want is generally gray with a yellow plug in color. The one you're replacing should be green with a yellow plug. Then under the driverside dash there is another relay panel, here you will need to add a relay marked "213" on the top of it, and LCR Jumper on the side, it's white with a green plug. You will also need to plug in a black "J" relay into the same panel under the dash. Depending on the car you will need one or two. My '98 V70 already had one installed. There aren't too many vacant plugs in the panel so it's pretty easy to find the right spot for each relay. I hope this helps out a bit! Good luck and tell us how it goes. jadnhm
is the "J" relay just a normal automotive relay? Do you have to get /the/ J relay or will any regular automotive relay work?
Specter86
Thanks so much I got my fogs up and running with just the 104 108 and a J relay thanks for all the help folks
crazykn
Just as a reference, the J-Relay is pretty much a standard automotive relay. Note the the 87 Pin is duplicated in the center, its not a 87a and 87b type (which means if the relay is off that the 87a will have power and the 87b pin won't). Just to clarify crazykn, how does one go about using a regular automotive relay in this application? I'm a bit confused by your explanation as it seems most descriptions of relays don't normally include bot an 87a and 87b pin. here's a good example: http://www.the12volt.com/relays/relays.asp Is this relay a SPST, SPDT, DPST or DPDT? jadnhm
Maybe this helps? There is a picture on this site of the other side of the relay: http://allegro.pl/przekaznik-bezpiecznik-4ra-003510-73-volvo-s70-v70-i1297736946.html It looks to me like it says: 30 = commmon (expected) 85-86 = coil (expected) 87-87 = output, N/O, duplicated as crazykn said So both 87* pins should have the same output? I am not sure if you can buy a normal relay that does this, but you could easily duplicate it by jumpering them together either inside the relay or by connecting the relay to the plug via a little pigtail that does the jumpering. Any other thoughts?
