2000 S80 Ecm

I'm getting an error code about the ECM in my 2000 S80 2.9

The car is idiling rough and stalling sometimes after a few minutes.

Can someone tell me what the ECM looks like and where it is located.

Also, can this be repaired or does it have to be replaced? Can one from a pick-and-pull be used if I can get one?

Thanks

ECM isn't ETM.

ECM (or CEM) has to do with the can/bus controller. It controls the communication between all the various modules that car has, and there are a lot of them hidden all over. Generally a pain in the ass to track down what the cause is. Sometimes it's the ABS module, the CEM or a mix of various electrical problems. Lots of people throw a new ABS module at it to start, then go down the line replacing all the regular shit (everything) that goes wrong with s80's.

It's all because that vintage of s80 is an electrical nightmare. I won't deal with s80's anymore. At all.

True. -1 for me for not reading.

MY dad had similar issues on his 01' S60 T5. Ended up going through like 5 MAF's, IAT sensor, new 02's etc. Eventually the fix was a Volvo blue box MAF. Apparently the car preferred the blue box. Funny thing is, his car has an original white label etm and has 140K with zero power/performance related issues to this point.

A P1633 is the same code my 2000 s80 had. This is definitely a bad ecm there is no other reason why that code would show up. I went to Volvo they quoted me $1650.00 to replace the ecm Bosch part number 0261206272 . I couldn't believe it, I thought that was a complete rip off. I found a company in Michigan here is their Volvo site http://www.ecmoutlet.com/volvo.html they were able to provide a reman oem unit PN/ 0261206272 for $375.00 plus 100.00 to program it. I installed it in my driveway with only a few tools to work with. All fault codes are gone and my ride is back to normal. I would recommend these guys to anyone with a bad Volvo ecm .

Not only are you a spammer, you're an asshole also. You're going to give out info that is 100% incorrect just to make some money. Now if that guy were to send you his ECU like you say and his P1633 code won't go away (and it won't) I doubt you're going to help him as you already got your money.

Your reviews online speak for themselves. And a BBB rating of "F" doesn't help. Or the fact that your mailing address is a UPS store.

Not sure why this guy would try to stop a member here from getting his Volvo ecm fixed. Here are the reviews I seen and this is very real. Most of these reviews are shops http://ecmoutlet.wordpress.com/2011/12/22/ecm-outlet-reviews-and-customer-comments/ Please do your homework before passing judgement.

This company is the best for Volvo ecm replacement and the only one I know of in the U.S. who can reprogram 99 and newer Volvos. I read the reviews you're referring to but keep in mind anyone can go online and post negative reviews. You're paying with a credit card so there is no risk. Whenever you pay with a credit card or paypal you're protected. Most people should know this. Members please don't let this guys negative comments prevent you from getting quality ecm service.
