iBoost
Ok heres the dealio, my '01 T5 block is almost completely rebuilt, FCP messed up and sent me the wrong headgasket kit (Elwis rather than Reinz) so that is the only thing delaying me. Head is fully ported, VVT solenoid blocked off, going to mate block to my 850's current M56H I figure, heck, these motors are better for more horses than the 850's, so why fawk with the 19t? I wanna go bigger and to be quite frank, im tired of the 19t...just isnt enough for my craving Ive been researching ebay turbos via other boosted forums and have decided on this turbo T3/T4 T04e Hybrid Stage 3 A/R .63 T3/T4 Other option Pretty much im aiming for around 350 wheel and I want room to upgrade in the future, any other reccomendations on turbos? Only thing about previously listed is that they are not water cooled as well, which is a selling point for me INITIATE ANTI FLAME MODULE.

bergmjs
You're going to build a whole motor then cheap out on a china turbo?
volvoskiah
i would go for a turbo that is a little more reputable, i have heard nothing but bad things about chinabay turbos..

Account_Deleted_T5M
Man you vs people are retarded with your replies, cept for jake of course. It has been a hit and miss with ebay turbos, I purchased a t3/t4 .53 trim hybrid off of ebay for 280 dollars, granted I don't trust ebay quality, so for 60 bucks I'm having it rebuilt even though its brand new. My buddy has a turbo honda, stock B16 with a B18ls-v head, and on a rebuilt ebay turbo made 438whp... Buy an ebay turbo and have a reputable company rebuild it, and you'll have yourself a good quality turbo for cheaps

matt b
There are a few people on Turbobricks who have had great luck with ChinaBay turbos, so I wouldn't knock them just yet. You could always have it checked and balanced by a shop, I think I paid $55 for mine to be balanced about a year ago.
Ellsworth
You're going to build a whole motor then cheap out on a china turbo? X2 really? I cant believe that American citizens continue to blindly finance the industrialization of a communist nation because we are cheap. Have you ever considered buying a quality product from a fellow American? In the end I think you wouldn't be disappointed. In the last month I had a customer bring me a bunch of work. We did a down pipe, custom intercooler tubing and installed a Chinese turbo among other things. all in all he dropped just under 2K for the work we did and when we were done, guess what? his turbo turned out to be crap, smoked from the minute we fired it up and due to time constraints he had to take his car (Daily driver) Long story short, he barely made it home before his turbine ate into the housing totally destroying the cheap piece of trash and sending an unknown amount of debris into the engines oil. He actually spent more for the chinese turbo than a quality rebuild would have cost him. I can only offer my advice that would be buy with quality in mind and enjoy the longevity of a quality product.
Ipd
Chinabay on the 240 for 12k miles, no issues. Also important to set up large enough bov and properly sized oil feed. These turbos are basically surplus deisel turbos, hence no water cooling so they can overheat a little easier than a water cooled turbo in certain situations, not super common. Mostly from long duration loading, think mt pass uphill fully loaded for a mile plus... So for the right aplication they're fine, but they are def not for everyone

This isn't something you can blame on the average citizen. US corporations outsourcing jobs & f'king they average worker with shit pay, crazy work hours, crap medical & pension plans is more of a problem. johnloves850's
I think an ebay turbo is a great idea. Go with one that will max out at 400 hp, so you aren't using the turbo at it's maximum efficiency range at 350 wheel.
GltGreco
i say try it, i wouldent most likely go with one but if it works great, if not 150+ bucks is not a huge investment if it dies after a few k miles
