InitialDriveGTR
Been working on a new info display for my dash. Controls lighting, and I'm debating putting gauges on it or running it with only buttons and Info. I've already got gauges on the PC based screens so no real need for redundancy... chaostactics
Can you recess it into the dash similar like the RTI systems of the newer volvos?
Serge
Very cool! What MCU are you using?
InitialDriveGTR
Very cool! What MCU are you using? I personally like ussing the Microchip PIC18F4550's: 40 pin DIP (stupid easy to solder), full speed usb, 48 MHz, and plenty or code space and RAM, not to mention internal EEPROM, I2C slave/master, and so much more. Some updatationalizationism I put the LCD on a very long cable and enable touch screen): The whole back circuit board of the LCD glows when on:

VulVer
Ben I have no idea how you do this stuff. How do you know where to run all the wires? Does it come with directions or do you just know...
Bah
Having used the PIC18F4620 this semester with MPLAB, i gotta say kudos lol....i couldn't even figure out SPI on the damn thing, and bit-banging is slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww If you need something milled and want me to prototype or check placement, i can use our craptastic mill for free for the next few months If i can figure out more advanced LCD screens other then the crappy 2x20's with built in ASCII and crappy 4-bit commands, then i'd be more help But, i just don't know enough C to make GUI's on a standalone LCD. And someone told me that the PIC18F4620 wasn't meant to be soldered on board, only socketed. I only socketed mine on the PCB, but good to see that you can solder them. And thanks, i will keep that in mind
