NYrobbie77
hey all... have a '98 v70 glt that the PO swapped the ignition cylinder from another vehicle. i only have one key for it and would like to get another. being laser cuz volvo needs the key code the order a new key. i don't know the vin from the donor car or have the key code. short of re-replacing the ignition lock is there anyway to get the key code? i.e. anything on the cylinder itself? also, the PO said that he swapped it because they are known to have problems? i think i might actually have the orig. cylinder somewhere, so i might be able to swap it back (have 2 keys to old cylinder). what problems do the cylinders have? or is it the ign. switch that is the problem? thanks in advance... rob

snooker
I own a 98 V70. The key for my car does not have a chip. I bought a used ignition cylinder that came with only one key. From that key, a nearby Volvo dealer made a duplicate for about $12. No other information was needed.
