swedishiron
I checked a Volvo owner's manual online for a 2000 C70 and it listed both 4speed and 5speed automatics. Is there an easy way to tell which one a 2000 C70 auto has ? The particular car is a coupe. Thank you.
Burn-E
Here's your VIN decoder from Volvo for that year. Transmission isn't differentiated at the level you're looking for though. However, looking at the manual it differentiates between 4 speed and 5 speed as the 5 speed only coming with non-turbo C70s. So if that truly is the case then all C70s in North America with auto transmission would be 4 speeds since we only received LPT and HPT or Low and High Pressure Turbo models. swedishiron
I just read the owner's manual more; it indicates turbo models for 2000 year are 4 speed autos while Normally Aspirated (NON-US I am assuming ?) are 5 speed automatics. 4 speed should have a 3 gear listed next after D versus 5 speed having a 4 gear after D. Ihatespeedbumps
All X70 models got 4spd autos EXCEPT 00 N/A, 00 R and 01+ C70.
swedishiron
They may have used the same text from the S70 for the transmission pages
FCP Euro
All the automatic C70s in the US are 4 speed automatics. They did not send us any NA model C70s which had the 5 speed automatic.

Burn-E
No. Technically you're correct, but only if we're not talking about the 1998-2000 C70 Coupe - which is what you're saying and we agree on. To clarify for everyone else, in 2001 the C70 offered the 5 Speed automatic transmission and that continued until 2002 after which the Coupe was dropped and 2004 after which the soft top Convertible was ended. You move into the P2 generation of the C70 in 2006 which has a 5 speed automatic.

Also, The latest gen C70 (hardtop) is the P1 platform, not P2 ;)

Also, The latest gen C70 (hardtop) is the P1 platform, not P2 You misread what I wrote - the 5 speed became available for all C70s starting with 2001. For those who don't know - which obviously isn't you - the coupe was discontinued after 2002 but the convertible in Gen 1 continued until 2004. Both had the 5 speed. Satisfied? And you're right, it was a fat finger mis-type on my part. P1.
