scandisk
I don't understand how to relax the serpentine belt tensioner in order to remove the belt. HELP!?!
loseR99
Should be a hole on the face of the tensioner to insert a large torx (T-60) or hex bit. Once you seat it properly, push toward the firewall. Might have to move the PS reservoir to reach. tensioner

Guest scandisk
(99 S70 standard aspiration) Thank you for your responses. I managed to nearly remove the alternator, but it seems caught up on the AC compressor, so I'm thinking I'll have to attempt to dislodge it/ loosen AC comp. bolts from the underside. Man, talk about tight quarters & the need for patience!
scandisk
Now that the alternator bolts (the 3 visible ones) have been removed, how do I wrangle the alternator out from under the hood? It seems that it's still (partially) anchored to the AC compressor. I am aware of the + and frounding cable attachments, along with the small modular plug. Any tips, suggestions, are appreciated, thanks.
loseR99
Seeing as the whiteblocks are modular motors, I assume its similar to the alternator I replaced on my S40. The feet of the alternator sit between the ac compressor and motor, so you'll have to remove the ac compressor bolts to let the alternator's feet loose. This was the case on the S40 anyway. genwheeler
I came on here trying to figure out the pulley too. Mine's a 2004 V70. i was about to pop the rubber cap off the bolt but thought I'd check here first. I went out and found the hole for the torx bit. Thanks.
