Lurk No More...

I work in computers... so I can do some telecommuting depending, but my office is down in MD.

Yeah that is how my seat looks more cracks than an old man or plumber. The wheel is just worn- I thought about getting a stitch on leather cover for it.

I think my door handle surrounds are ok but I’ll check, its the trim rings around the door pins (not pulls sorry). Think I may get new pins and rings from ipd.

Yeah the inserts are annoying- thought about trying to heat gun and adhesive them back into place but I think they will do it again, the material is like shrink wrap. Was going to see if a local shop could make leather or nice cloth inserts to replace them. I have Greg watching for inserts for me too, He doesn’t have any parts cars in there in Tan right now.

It actually taps after it warms up and if I let it sit idling for a little, reminds me of a lifter sticking.

The paint is just swirled like crazy- body is straight and clean but it looks like they rushed the buff job and you can see the swirls down it in a pattern from them buffing it. Pretty sure they didn’t touch the roof.

I’ll have to check that place out- I definitely want it tinted, way too much glass coming from a little sedan to a wagon, LOL.

He actually already has tuned another Volvo and He can resurrect dead ECU’s, if they aren’t completely toast- He will tune anything with a Bosch ECU pretty much. Tunes sleds, racecars and is well known with the VW TDI’s but has gas VW and Audi tunes and has been working on C6 Vette tunes. Already talked to him and He does want to tune it- plus He stands by his work. I’m interested to know what He can squeeze out of it within reason. I definitely want to get an intake on the car, not sure which way to go for an exhaust yet. I really like the ones from IPD but they are pricey. May see what some of the local shops will do for it. I haven’t ever gotten a good price from Miles in York on anything, but I know Greg has taken cars in there, so I may see what price they give him. A new turbo would be nice but that will probably be down the road a little with everything going on.

Haha, yeah, tan is notorious for doing that. Here's a place that sells covers, a good upholstery shop is about the same price. http://elwoodindustries.com/id63.html

Ah ok, door pin surrounds.......IPD, yep.....dealer probably sells them really cheap too.

I usually use Gibble's upholstery in Manhiem, he's right across from the Auto Auction. Does really good work! Only he said the inserts are not worth the bother, maybe he just didn't feel like doing them?

Once it gets nicer out Mike and I could see if we can correct your paint if you want, just may help sooth the swirls.

Neat about the ECU, I'd be interested in hearing more once he reconfigures yours. OBX makes a cheap 3 in. downpipe, $155 or so shipped? They are on ebay from time to time you just have to tell the seller you only want a downpipe. They are cheap but I've had mine for nearing 40K with no issues. From there on back you are right, probably better off going custom. Miles is about the best place I know to refer you to. There's also a guy up 30 past the outlets named "Muff Man" that does incredible exhaust work. Weird name.

Thats what I've been understanding about tan... sucks LOL

Maybe I'll check the stealer too- they are just all chipped and chewed up.

I wonder what the inserts would look like fiberglas'ed? :P

That would be cool, I have a buffer but it sucks. I could probably get a photo of the swirls thats how bad they are. Thought a dealer would do better.

Let someone else be the guinea pig eh? LOL. He's a good tuner, I trust him. If anyone wants his contact info- let me know. I sent the info to Chill man before but I think He chickened out. I'd love to know who's Volvo He tuned. Oh and I forgot He lists tunes for a crapload more cars...

If he can really tune I would be intrested other wise I will be spending $1500 at EPL some time this summ for the C70

Also where and when tomorrow I can probally come down for lunch / pretend I am seeing customers down there. :pizza:

I told you to call him- tell him I sent you. Do you want me to PM his number and website? If He gets enough interest from a market He would probably even do custom tunes.

He has all kinds of tunes for VW's, mine was a custom tune- I had two tunes on my chip switcheable in VAGCOM. A beefed up 18 lb tune and a 23 lb tune that sadly I never got to run because I was just getting ready to pull my injectors for winter to get bigger nozzles so I could run it. Last I was down at his shop, He was working on big turbo 1.8T tunes and He had a C6 Vette in storage getting ready to do custom tunes.

He is looking for different markets where the people aren't afraid to do their own car work. In the TDI world He even will travel and do tuning days if there is enough interest at an event.

I'll be at work... does that mean you will be in MD? Friday I am in York all day but have to be at Greg's shop in the AM for awhile, then I have a meeting and an appointment (which sucks).

My 17" steal from craigslist- paid $400 with the tires and no they were not out of the back of a van. Came with Pirelli's all with good tread on them 235/45's. Fit fine on the XC but had to use a spacer to give a little more room. The spacers were generic 1/8" (just over 3mm) so I'll probably look for nicer spacers that are made to fit better. Without spacers the front tires rubbed the strut slightly while on the lift, the rear was just a close clearance but probably would had been ok. Under compression it looked like there was more room then but the spacers are good insurance. H&R make a 5mm or I may look into getting a machine shop to make a set of hubcentric spacers.

- Mike, Prezman and I are considered the buffing wizards so maybe we can play with your paint when it warms up? We aren't professionals but I think it's safe to say we do a pretty good job. We're both annoying anal about keeping the cars clean.

Very true. The wizards we are.

Had the surgery Thursday to my elbow to fix it... all swollen and braced up for now. Removed all the hardware from the accident and removed bone that wa keeping me from bending better. So have to take it easy on it and have some good pain pills to go with it.

Best of luck with the recovery, we'll have to get a few of us together after a while when you're sitting a little better. :D

 Right now it feels like someone ripped my arm off at the elbow and beat someone with it. Hopefully the swelling will go down soon. Have to keep the dressing on it for two weeks and have to take it easy on it for six snce He removed all the hardware.
