AnthonyR
Alright there have been a few threads about my 740 thus far and after a few more hours of checking I have fixed the starter selenoid clicking problem (bad ground) and have traced the fuse #1 blowing problem to the Air Mass Meter. The thick yellow/blue wire is grounding out somewhere inside the AMM. Has anyone ever seen this before? At first I thought it was the wiring but upon further investigation if I cut that wire and test it, what is supposed to get +12V shows a perfect ground (0.1ohms) Is there anyway to fix this type of problem myself if I am handy with electronics/soldering, cause $150 is a lot to shell out for a rebuilt mass meter when to me it sounds like a faulty solder joint or wire inside. They're relatively cheap, and virtually all of them are good. You could then take off your old one and if you feel so inclined, open it up and see if you can fix it, then sell it on tbricks or brickboard or somewhere and recoup the money you spent. I haven't actually bought an AMM from a yard, so I don't really know how much they cost, but shouldn't be more than 20-30 bucks or so?
AnthonyR
Yeah I found one from a pick and pull today from a 240 and it was only $10. So that fixed it. Then all I had to do is fix a ground to get the starter motor working again and the fuel injection/AMM power wire was shorting somewhere, so I ran a new wire. Took me a couple weeks of sporatic investigation, but I finally fixed it and all is well. Total cost on car including repairs and initial cost has now grown to $
