Account_Deleted_T5M
1995 850 T5 160,000 miles ISSUES KNOWN AT TIME OF PURCHASE 1. - Water in oil ( possible condensation buildup after not starting for 5 months) 2. - Blew a little smoke ( PCV possible cause ) 3. - Needed Heater core 4. - Car did not heat up ( thermostat or ECT sensor ) I bought the car with these known problems, but highly doubted headgasket. THINGS I'VE DONE SO FAR. 1. Replaced PCV 2. Cleaned out gunked up PTC 3. Put 96+ manifold on (EGR delete) 4. Drained oil, and ran 4 quarts oil, half gallon diesel to clean it out. 5. Fresh oil change. ISSUES REMAINING. I started car up, and it almost sounded like a diesel, after 15 minutes of idling it started puffing white smoke out the back of the car, plus smoke pouring out of dipstick. Smoke slowed down, and i looked in the drivers well and coolant was literally POURING into the drivers well. (Needs Heater Core, and metal heater core hard lines. Is it possible, that its not the headgasket? What else could i be looking at?
GltGreco
If heater cores been an issue for a while, it is possible that previous owner drove it after the coolant leaked out, which would easily lead to over heating and then head gasket, but have you taken a compression test yet, that would likely be very telling. FCP Euro
The best way to see if it is the head gasket would be to do a compression test. If everything checks out ok there, then it is highly unlikely that the head gasket is bad.

I would just bypass the heater core in engine bay and see whats up
