Wagoneer855
It's awesome for the first few days, even weeks. Then you're hungover one morning and you just want to get to work and you turn on the car and wished it was quiet... IMO these engines don't even need a muffler when the turbo is spooling, they sound fantastic, not even harsh. It's when the turbo isn't spooling which is in slow traffic, highway cruising etc. That's when it gets old fast. prepare for tickets... Every state is different. Ontario is apparently strict on quiet exhausts and I ran an open 3" downpipe for almost 4 months. I even got pulled over for having a salty license plate and the officer didn't say anything about it. phenom1979
Cat and straight pipes no drone. Resonators cause the drone.

esundell90
As someone who had no muffler on for a month or so, it got kinda old. I had an OBX DP + exhaust, and I had a clearance issue, so while waiting on the stuff to fix it, I drove the car with no muffler for a while, and no cat. IT was LOUD! I loved being able to hear the turbo spooling up and down even at low revs, really sounds mean, but, as said, you'll get up one morning, feeling like yuck, and you'll hate it. Making a run to the store at 2am? You'll wake the neighbors and they'll oh yeah!.(Least mine did) Ultamatly, as much as I kinda liked it, I kinda felt like a toolbox driving a volvo with no exhaust. Once I shut it up, it wiered me out how silent it was, but it gave the car its sleeper status back, which I like.
Keep Calm Chive On
I was tempted to go this route with cherry bombs. I intended to do a little custom work & needless to say I was interested in cutting out the OBX resinator (the only thing on the car) and then put in cherry bomb. Curious how it would sound because we all know 5cyl have a unique sound and I was wondering if cherry bomb would help or hurt that. I have yet to be able to find a solid youtube video of a volvo or any 5cyl with one but ive tried to imagine a 4cyl & a 6 cyl playing at the same time haha. Regardless let me know how this turns out because cherry bombs are only 30$ ish & when in doubt the jeep has a built motor so I could always piss off more people with that. It already has 2.5" mandrel exhaust with magnaflow hi flow cat & muffler & headers & cams & intake manifolds etc etc etc so when in doubt PoopJeep the III'rd will just be more obnoxious

Iloveboost
So I love the sound of the straight pipe. Probably gunna go that route and if it's to loud I will throw in a glass pack. Thanks for all the videos guys!
macminter
Here's it without a muffler at all. It does drone a bit, and it's a mix of something you can get used to and something that gets a tiny bit on my nerves. But it does sound fantastic on throttle.
