SWM
So im considering selling my T5M Black on Black (looking for a 4WD vehicle). i know many folks start threads like this, but my car is bone stock, so i dont want expected value for add ons etc. Because the model is a bit more desirable then KBB leads you to believe, i wanted to be sure i wasnt shorting myself details 98 S70 T5M black on black M1 every 3K 204K mi Everything works recent "tune up" plugs wires etc New Tires on Perfos Separate snow tires with separate wheels, about 50-75% tread left some rash on front hood nothing TOO bad overall dent free, small ding near driver door on B pilar, VERY minor no rips on interior, normal drive seat wear newer brakes (2 years) Never left me stranded, im third owner and have put about 30-40 k on it. Oreo931
$3k tops. Although I'm not sure you'll get that much.
Burn-E
$3k tops. Although I'm not sure you'll get that much. I concur. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ_fnaJDsgA&feature=related Figure it this way, your car with 250k miles on it that had been completely redone by a guy who knows these cars inside and out struggled to sell for $3500 and eventually sold for $3000. (n)A-GAME
$3K to an enthusiast. Closer to $2K on the open market. At the end of the day to most people it's a 13 year old Volvo with high miles. I'd sell the snow tires separately here or on Ebay and get a little more for them. Keep Calm Chive On
You should be okay on the high side of 2k
Keaton85
Just for reference, I bought my 98 V70 T5M green on black for $2,500 It's a fair condition 180K mile well maintained vehicle (brother worked at dealership) First Volvo I ever spent more then 700 on! haha Anyway, my point is that you are looking at 2K like everyone else says in the CL idiot market, or 2,500 max to someone on here. 98t5M
It has 200k miles on it... This is true, but that's pretty typical of cars that age. Maybe that's just around here since so many people commute long distances for work.
Burn-E
What a bummer. These damn cars were selling for 7k+ around here a year or two ago. Nobody was getting that kind of money on a T5M with 200k+ miles on it 2 years ago. A dealer might have asked for $5k on it but nobody was paying that price. And if they were even offering it at that price then there was paperwork showing the mechanicals had largely been replaced (engine overhaul, transmission replaced, complete suspension, axles, radiator, intercooler, turbo, etc). That or they were simply looking for the sucker buyer. And yes they were probably selling for more 2 years ago simply because as time goes by and mileage goes up depreciation lowers the value to everyone but an enthusiast. T-5Bandit
Because the model is a bit more desirable then KBB leads you to believe, i wanted to be sure i wasnt shorting myself I assume you say this because it is a manual. In the open market and even with insurance, a manual transmission is always going to be worth less than a model with an automatic for this type of car. Manual transmission is only more desirable to a Volvo enthusiast. Keep in mind - it was more expensive to purchase the car back in 98 with an automatic than manual. The 98 T5 model was also marketed as a higher end, luxury car (borderline) with @ $40k price tag - $40k was considered a decent amount of money for a car then. In the average US market, most consumers prefer an automatic when purchasing a luxury-type car, hence why there were limited manuals imported at the time. I'm sure you were browsing all the Southern California craigslists and car dealerships 1-2 years ago right?

No S70T5M sold for 7k 1-2 years ago if it had 200k miles on it. With 100k, you might be correct. But otherwise, there's no way.
