You arent going to see those speeds for most downloads, and fast uploads only are usefull if you upload alot (ie. you maintain a website, or run a server of some kind) Anyone who uses streaming netflix, youtube, listens to streaming radio, or bittorrent (keep in mind this data distribution system can and IS used for legitimate purposes) will see a benifit from high bandwidth connections. Yes, shitty pooled connections are going to have a hard time seeing good download speeds especially during peak times, but something like FIOS, or other guarenteed data rates will absolutely see a benifit. To be honest I've never investigated other internet providers. I just know that we need something that compares to DSL in terms of speed.
