Hey,

Been using a beltronics 995 for the past couple years (loved it) and just bought a brand new valentine 1 off craigslist foe $150! I was stoked. Even came with the extern valume.

I had one back in highschool and they are awesome. Going to give the 995 to the girl.

I drove home tonight with it and it's amazing. Going on a big trip with my fiancé this weekend (sadly in her 06 corolla s) not the Volvo but will bring it along

What do you use?

Beltronics Rx65(blue) Works great. Had a Solo escort before and it was also a good unit.

Combined it with some common sense like don't speed near on/off ramps going into cities etc... and it's quite helpful.

Running an Escort 9500blue along with a ZR4 laser jammer, and a blinder jammer as well. Jammers are sweet.

Something cobra. "someome" made it go on clearance as circuit city was goin outa business. Does what I need pretty well. Shit starts goin wild & then like a mile down the road I go OHHHHH THERES the cop. Nothin special but either way its worth the 17 doll hairz I paid horrayyy 90% off

I'm using an Escort 8500 x50 that I really like. I'd like to get a V1 but they are just too expensive, nice find OP! To be honest I haven't even had it plugged in for the last few months, I guess I'm slowing down and not needing it as much. ;)

Valentine V1. I've had 3-4 Escorts, anything from the 8500 to the Solo, to the 9500 and they never seem to hold up. V1 has been a life saver, catching some of those unreliable Euro frequencies that local cops use and abuse.

A jammer would be nice, but the temptation to drive fast all the time would not be good :(

Rx65 is by far top of the line and for the price a heavy competitor to the Escort/V1

Brett if you wanna know how to turn off K band so it doesnt beep really annoying around town let me know,

Ka, X, KU, and laser are pretty much the only bands you wanna worry about.

Using an Escort 8500 right now, got it for $75 off CL, but I had a Cobra, the talking version for years and it's been dead on every time. Gave it to my little brother when I got the Escort, but now I'm pissed cuz 2 months after I bought it the damn thing randomly pops up "Service Required" rendering it useless. I actually really like cobra for the price and find it to be comparable. Would love to score a V1 on the cheap though.

V1.. best there is...and I agree with the above post about common sense, thats one of the best methods! there are some departments still using K band...I didn't know ANY department even owned Xband anymore...usually around cities X goes off constantly from various other sources (truckers microwaves in the sleeper cabs used to set off X on my old Bell!)

Pretty much all depts. use K or K above/under guns or mounted units. RSDS/Trailer units are typically K. I have seen one that used X but didn't actually read with it. It was most likely for comm.

Anyone using X units must be severely budget limited single officer depts or some obscure tribal enforcement police academy reject.

I use RX65s. Good detection for the money. Easy to swap between cars if you're a multi-car person. The suction cups aren't the best but I've never seen anything much better, either.
