That would save me time from looking it up for sure!

Please be kind enough to PM or post that up.

Ignition = blue/red

12v battery = red

accessories(fan) = yellow/purple

starter = green/red

tach = blue

parking lights = white

***

i cant remember exactly what color i used for starter kill but i can find out tomorow

***

i didnt use lock/unlock arm/disarm for i was confused.

this alarm module required 4 wires for arm/disarm/lock/unlock

one of these days when i have time im going to try and can verify if you can just take the modules arm/lock wires and tie them to the volvo lock wire and do the same thing for unlock/disarm..

hope this helps somewhat

The NEW vehicle dealers AND used car dealers heavily rely on crimps for aftermarket installs. Audio Sound, Sound Security, All Around Media, Loud Systems Inc, Mickey Shore and Car tunes use crimps on cheapie installs aswell. I've repaired countless hack jobs from big name places that used come to my little shop.

I've worked at a couple dealers and currently do heavy automotive, marine, and light air craft support on contracts. Electrical is not my strongest, but I can read diagrams and understand concepts.

Now that I supplied a brief of my resume, where do I collect my salary?

A dealer is the absolute LAST place I would take my car for any type of aftermarket accessory... In my opinion they are worse than Mickey Shore and that is a tough thing to do... And I am well aware they use crimps on regular radio and speaker installs but not usually on remote start/alarm installs... I wasn't questioning your resume, it just sounded as though you haven't done one before and they can be a bear to do, especially on our cars with the 4 wire locks that require extra relays... it can be intimidating so some.

I dont know what dealers you talking about. I have 8 new car dealers and not one would allow me to use crimps. I do new car installs once and dont ever want to see it again. i solder everything.

Compustar is a great brand.

Yes, I use their stuff for my new car dealer installs. Look into Drone Mobile and SMart Start. thats some cool stuff. I personally have Compustar Pro two way paging spread spectrum alarm remote start system with a Drone Mobile unit installed in my XC90, C70 MANUAL with turbo timer. Only Compustar advertises it will work on a manual transmission vehicle. Unlike Aaron's suggestion for a dual proximity radar sensor, i'd advise against it. it will false all the time if you live in a high traffic area, and if you have tint it will not go thru the tint for the second zone.

In my market area, the common mentality is to goto the dealer since they are the "precieved experts". customers think that based off of a dealers recommendation, the shop they going to is going to be the best and the factory warranty will not be effected. Malvasi, believe it or not dealers are seeing $$$$ in aftermarket accesories and more and more of them are trying to capture that lost sale! Look at Mopar's accesory line, Honda has one too and so does ford. Honda even has a factory remote starter that sucks butt big time and retails for $899. I come in and do them for the dealer for $350 all day long and they then resell it for $499 and everyone is happy.

Quality install = Happy customers and NO RETURNS/NO COMPLAINTS. Had my first DVD/overhead monitor come back on a 2006 pathfinder about 1 month ago. Did the car back in nov 2005. car has 102k now and dvd just broke. upgraded to a new 10.5 lcd and customer was on their way in 1hr! for a nominal fee of course :)

MI is going to be different that PA. Majority of the dealers I've encountered here and in Ohio often wanted it done fast and cheap. I left a few places because I refuse to lower my standards for a half ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD method of installs (I am NOT going to take the hit in MY wallet for their greed) .

Thats good that you have standards. 4 of my dealers are 300+ cars a month new and 80+ cars used. If i get 20 cars for various items, thats good for me. I look at it like this, do dealer work cheaper than retail, maintain standards. When one of these cars you do ALL THE TIME comes in as a retail customer, we whack'em harder(for more money) :) and get the car done faster!

example: i can do a 2011 Honda Pilot, civic, odessey, or crv in 1 1/2 hours remote start, door locks, tach, brake, and hood pin...Soldered connections, with a 101 degree fever...Last year we did 300+ hondas, no returns. out of the 300+ maybe 175 keyless/remote starts, 75 dvd/overheads, 50 bluetooth handsfree. thats just one dealer. i like dealer work, makes money, they pay their bills and keeps us busy!!

the cheap dealers are like that because they greedy. i straight up ask the salesman. where do i need to be so you do not loose the sale? if they say, i need to do this for $200. i tell them i need $350. i can do it this time for $200 but the next deal you need to give me $500 to make up for the $150 you owe me. Taking that tactic, has yet to burn me. This builds a relationship with the dealer. AND garuntees me a return job most of the time. Plus, i hook up the salesman/manager that sends me the work.

Dealers need good shops, they just want to hit a certain price so they can make more money. I guess i got it lucky since all my dealer work is consistant, Like today, got a 2011 NEW body style Honda Odessey for DVD/Overhead, then Nissan drops off a 2011 Altima for remote start, on top of retail customers buying $3000 dvd/nav stereo systems!

haha my post was edited. What was it that I had up there? lol thats funny though.

Yep, I know where you are coming from ghost. I just got out of that line of work for a job. I do it on the side as a thing I like to do now. Hell I may not get the remote start parts in until Spring and it'll be summer by the time I do the install with my time schedule. :D

I remember doing H3, H2 and H1 remote/alarm installs in one hour and getting paid for four. It did take me a month to get to that status though, it's no cake walk in the beginning. I soldered everything aswell. Too bad those trucks didn't sell as intended..... I've gone weeks with 15 hour pay checks or less.
