goobernoodles
I'm in the midst of replacing the PCV system on my '95 850 Turbo I recently purchased for $1300. It definitely needs some lovin'. Anyway, long story short: I inadvertently popped the PTC nipple off of the intake hose earlier on. This turned out alright, as I needed to clean it out thoroughly anyway, which would have been impossible with where it is in the engine bay. The problem now is, it seems like it'll be extremely hard to get the thing back onto the hose without getting the intake hose out... I however, cannot get the hose out as the clamp's screw is totally inaccessible. Anyone have any tips of how to get the intake hose off? I can try to take some pictures if need be. Thanks. Keaton85
You have to get that clamp off. Screw driver or a wretchet...
jablackburn
Usually that screw is facing up in some way. You need to get that clamp off and remove the hose to get the PTC back in - I reached down in there with a short flathead screwdriver or 10mm socket wrench and they did the job. Ihatespeedbumps
I use a long 1/4" extension with a 7mm wobble socket.
bergmjs
It's also possible to reinstall the PTC with the pipe in the car, hard, but possible. Putting a little bit of lubricant on the rubber boot helps to persuade it back into the pipe.
goobernoodles
Alright, I'll try again to get the clamp off, but the screw has presumably slid so that its totally underneath. Not exactly an easy place to get at. I don't think I have enough room to get a screwdriver/ratchet onto the screw. If I cant get the clamp off, and I cant get the PTC back on without removing the clamp, I may just risk having to buy a new intake hose and use cut the clamp from above with a dremel... goobernoodles
Put on non-aggravating music (radiohead), layed ontop of the engine, and somehow got one of those choad screwdrivers in there and loosened it enough to swing it around and loosen it the rest of the way. Thank god that's over. Cleaned out the bottom of the intake hose and going to give it a day to dry. Hopefully I'll finish this PCV project tomorrow.
