if he can get the OEMs back in then i'm willing to bet the issue isn't his method

perhaps he simply got a bad set, i dunno, but i'm willing to bet that if he contacted Ben he could ship them back and get a new set to try - and if those dont work then i'd say something else on the car must be wanked

Where do you live in Ct? I'll come over and help you install them on a weekend, just to make sure you aren't missing something.

I've done a lot of suspension mods over the last decade in quite a few cars, and there have been times I've been owned by my lack of experience.

hey man, im actually pretty close to you - im in Willimantic, and i usually do work over @ my girlfriends in Durham; which i take rt 66 to get to.. the help would be VERY appreciated. i could come to you as well so you wouldnt have to drive anywhere.. pizza, burgers, whatever you'd like on me bro whether we get them in or not.. just that you'd offer to help means a lot. beyond just getting them in though, when i put the stock arms back in, i couldnt help to think that they are fixed in their dimension and would always be correct.. whereas the Kaplhenkes could be a little off due to the adjustability from side to side.. so what if i went for an alignment and the guys couldnt get the camber even on either side? they certainly aren't going to take the arms off and adjust the rod ends for me lol. i just feel like it was a stupid idea and bad purchase by me.. i hear you on the karma, but wtf am i going to do with them? can't rule out that someone else could use them just cause i couldnt..

and Gideon, i wish Ben had these lying on the shelf but he makes them to order... took 2 months. returning them for another set isnt really an option.. returning them and getting my $$$ back would be the best case scenario. i wouldnt doubt Ben has read this thread and thought "f him, i made em and HE cant get them in... that's his problem"

he might tell you you did it all wrong, though.

and then he'll agree to send you replacements, and a year later, you might get them.

and then you might be strapped for time, and VS will bitch at you about it, until you try the replacements and they fit.

of course, ben will tell you still that the originals were fine, and that you were just doing it wrong, and that he sent you the same ones back!

been there, done that.

VS is a bitch sometimes, but over time, the same people who bitched at you will eat their tongues.

unfortunately for you, you defended him and then got fucked.

i just got fucked.....and the way ben played it was to make it sound like I had done something wrong lol....and VS jumped on the bandwagon....but over time, things like this happen, and i am vindicated!

sorry for your loss, but it seems as though you're out of $850.

and selling them on Ebay would be screwed, unless you clearly state that they don't fit.

Pras you are totally right. i +1 you... i am eating my words - completely. i couldve just as easily not posted anything after they didnt work.. do you think for a second i didnt think i'd hear it till the cows came home about these arms? after all id said? i welcome it cause i was totally wrong. one of the biggest mistakes anyone can make in a lifetime is not apologizing and admitting a wrong/fault. so i am in a bit of a moral dilemma with these.. anyone would try and recoup some cash lost, but @ the same time, i dont want to screw anybody over.. Ben is another story, and he'd say "hey, you wanted them, i made them - it's your problem" and he'd be right.. i dont like it but he'd be right. he can't be the ONLY person that can fit these. im sure with a little more talent, tools, ambition and patience, someone else could. they're beautiful pieces really. if someone got them in, they'd have a very unique setup (which is what i wanted) and im sure the handling/steering would be razor-sharp

I'm confused why everyone is saying he's screwed? Maybe it's because I don't know anything about this Ben person, but from an outsiders view:

Custom made. If it doesn't fit, then maybe it's a bit off. Possible, since it's handmade. I would think a reputable company/person would make another one and swap it for you, no questions asked. I mean, that's what good companies do. I received a jacked up piece from FCP, called them up, explained it, and had a replacement piece the next day. No questions asked and no more money from my side. That's what good companies do.

What am I missing here?

No, he'd be dead wrong. You wanted and agreed to purchase a part to fit on to your car. You did not agree to purchase a paper weight.

Worst case scenario, you can take him to small claims court if he refuses to address the issue. If he drags his feet as everyone is suggesting he will, be sure you don't wait beyond the statue of limitations to recoup your losses from him.

you're right.. statue is what a year? i got them back in April and hadnt gotten all adjacent parts till recently so i had no idea they wouldnt fit till now.. got a PM from someone interested who's been reading this thread but i'd take a loss.. so what's worse dealing with Ben and having possible legal matter that would cost as much as this loss or just getting rid of them?

Contact him. Call him, email him, PM him on every forum. Harass the hell out of him until he actually responds.

You will most likely need photos of the control arms not lining up. These photos will also be useful in court if you have to take it that far.
