I picked up a set of working 98 S70 rear belts and want to install them in my 95 for the ALR function. That is the one that allows you to use the child seat function and the belt doesn't slip. Well for the most part the rears are the same. On the passenger side the retraction mechanism is on the inboard side compared to the outboard side of the 850 but the bolts all line up fine. The S70 just didn't have the locator pin the 850 has. That isn't stopping me from installing it, I was looking to see if anyone else has done this with any success. On my '96 I can use a carseat by moving the red switch on the buckle in back which locks the buckle from moving/sliding? Or have I misunderstood? It is actually the tongue that has the switch on it from the S70 that allows it to hold the belt without moving. Your 96 850 has it? I am going to check the local yard for 96 850's to see what those seat belts look like... I was told only the x70's had those and not the 850's... I guess you learn something everyday!
