SeedyRom
That link was useless as it didn't discuss which wire to cut for a 5 cylinder. Is it as simple as cutting both the 6 and 4 cylinder wires and splicing them together? I was referring to what JHEIII874T5M says in the thread. Here is a quote: "QUOTE(turbo262c @ Jul 28 2007, 04:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 6A as the 6AL does not support 5 cyclinder engine so the rev limiter would not work properly ehhh... I don't know about that. I figured it'd be the same thing we tried for the window switch, which worked great. Just pretend it's a 6 and just decrease it by 17%. Why? Well, it's missing a pulse, so you must factor in 5/6, or subtract 16.6666% (repeating forever .6) from your desired window for the final equation. Thus, if you wish to spray between 3500-5600 RPM, one would do 3500*.1666 = 583.1; so 3500-583.1 = 2916.1 Well, for my purposes and for my wallet's purposes, since I already had a 3000 RPM pill I'll just kept her at 3000 RPM; so let's say I wouldn't start spraying until 3600 RPM. Now, I wanted it to stop spraying at 5600 RPM. So, 5600 *.1666 = 932.96; so 5600-932.96 = 4676.04. We'll just say 4700 RPM. So, the pills needed would be 3000 and 4700 RPM wired into a 6 cylinder application in order to spray between ~3500-~5600 RPM on a 5 cylinder application. Similarly, I figure on a MSD ignition, if one wanted to set a 6200 RPM redline, you could try 6200*.1666 = 1032.92; so 6200-1032.92 = 5167.08, we'll just say 5200 RPM pill. " So technically, couldn't you run on 6cyl mode and use his 17% method? This is assuming you want to increase your RPM limit. It seems you can't without a good tune though. It will still work just not match what the pill is set for since AFAIK nobody sells a box wired for a 5cyl. I just use a plain 6a though no limiter. Snabb T5M
Shit, wish I would have looked harder, that's a good price. But I was getting other things from Jegs also. Plus they gave me a free hat! Handeling charge...WTF! All this talk got me looking again. I found a $15 off coupon online so I pulled the trigger at StreetSide for 159.00 shipped! I'm such a sucker. So you would just multiply by 1.25 to figure out what you want it set for (6000 rpms would be set at 7500rpms)?

the commissar!
I have sooooo many Jegs hats I only have one...not much customer loyalty when it comes to products with mass availability...then it's all about the total cost. When it comes to specialty stuff...well read my sig to see where I shop...Sadly I never got a hat from those guys... Back to the 6a...did you guys use the generic import wiring diagram in the directions or what??? Mine will be here tomorrow and I want to be able to install it correctly... TRACStar
Its super easy to hook up, +/- and then existing coil wires to box inputs and outputs back to the coil. The fun part is picking a spot to mount it. You have a choice to put it out in the open to show off your shiny red box, or keep it hush hush and tuck it away. ;)
MarioBrown
Side note: I recommend installing some simple easily assessable connectors between the box and factory coil harness so that you can easily unplug the MSD and re-connect the factory ignition system. MSD box's WILL fail, and when yours does you can easily unplug it and re-start your car. Mario

Maybe if I install it inside the air box (open design) it will be protected some from the heat and weather.
