Professional Parts Sweden?

Recommended Posts

so im revamping the suspension on my car and im ordering parts. i ordered KYB strut/shock mounts through http://tirerack.com. i got the package today and all seemed fine with the KYB boxes/part#s. i opened the boxes up and the strut mounts inside aren't KYB, they're "Professional Parts Sweden" brand? so what are the chances they're a Swedish brand and we have Swedish cars right? i called KYB north america directly in IL, to ask if they switched manufacturers/suppliers and talked to a rep and they said they'd never heard of Pro Parts Sweden? So i call http://tirerack.com and tell them i ordered KYB and got another company's brand and part#. they told me to take pictures of the box and the item and email it to them and they'd have a "tech" call me back... never did. so now im pissed. im looking online for KYB distributors so i can call and ask if what they're selling is also pro parts sweden. the only reason im even making an issue of this is: A. i ordered KYB, and B. ive heard horror stories about Scantech crap; which is also an aftermarket Swedish company for our cars. i also asked Lucky if he heard of this company and he said he had. said they're aftermarket and "ok" but not "great" So i come across this site: www.justsuspensions.com an "authorized KYB distributor" hoping they would shed some light on this subject. i call them up and asked if KYB had indeed changed manufacturers and told him about my http://tirerack.com order. he shocked me; he told me KYB doesn't actually make their own mounts or boots - they "outsource" those items. they only ACTUALLY MAKE struts/shocks.. so when you order "KYB" strut/shock mounts or boots, you're essentially paying for the box! i looked up Professional Parts Sweden and found the site legitimately out of sweden. i also looked up the part# of the strut mount (not the part number on the KYB box itself) and it was the correct part for my car.. so what are the chances of this being a mistake? it's not..

Many companies repackage goods and slap their name & a different price on it. Prime example... my pops ML350 oil filter was something to the tune of 55-60 dollars and "only should be bought at the dealership" obviously. Its some new mahle fleece filter blah blah blah dealership people talking trying to sound smart to get my mom to buy it while I sat back and laughed after already knowing all aboot it. My mom being cheap as she wanted to change the oil her self like a big girl (which she didnt) was outraged. So clever Mr Kurt decided to hit up the interwebs. Purolator filter = repackaged Mahle Fleece Filter. Even printed out the image stamped on the bottom of the OEM one then went to the store and pulled the filter out the Purolator Pure One box. Same part # was listed on it & even had "MAHLE" & "made in germany" (or where ever). 16 dollars over 60 doll hairs.

that is classic, European car companies have been di--ing s over forever, Porsche is even worse than Mercedes, oh and the Volvo dealer is no better lol. research is key, and stay away from dealers unless you have the warranty from the dealer.

edit: they all are rip offs......

Even though you didn't actually get the KYB brand IMO they're a very reliable manufacturer for Domestic cars. Pretty sure DSM's are a fan of them as well. I had a set of their GR-2 struts on a 96 Grand Am GT and they were very comparable to the Bilstein TC's ride.

I'm getting ready to put the GR-2's and KYB front mounts on my wife's Cobalt as well. :D

When money stops sucking.....

well, dont count on getting "KYB" mounts, as there is no such thing.. HOWEVER when i went to the Pro Parts Sweden website, the mounts WERE the same price as i'd paid on http://tirerack.com - so i didnt feel totally ripped off. i agree with KYB's quality as far as shocks and struts; had a set of GR2s and gas-a-justs on a Beretta i had and they were great.. the problem is, they sell/advertise mounts and boots as if they manufacture their own! that's b.s. because you never know what (brand) you're going to get? i already went ahead and ordered a set of OEM (sachs) mounts from fcp as Lucky suggested those are the best.. anybody have any experience with the Pro Parts Sweden brand? doesn't have to be strut mounts; anything? do ya'll agree that OEM/sachs are the best strut mounts for our cars? these are going atop iPd's hd spring seats, koni yellows and H&R's...

well, i've only been on here since 09' so please tell me what you mean? as in a lesser/cheaper brand actually turned out to be "sachs?" i dont really care about it being cheaper elsewhere as fcp is having a 10% sale and free shipping on orders 99$.. the pair of OEM/sachs strut mounts was $115 shipped. so what do you mean?
