Silicon Hoses

Recommended Posts

I got the TB hose on and the top intercooler hose on. The car is boosting awesome. I need to put the other 3 hoses on. I just used oil and a small flat head screw driver.

I'm doing those tomorrow how did you get the shroud off to get the top hose. Ditto only one other hose to swap car is boosting like it's supposed to.

I've been trying to install my silicone hoses from FCP today (the inexpensive ones, not the SAMCOs).

I was able to get the small ring onto the top of the turbo, but have not been able to get the OTE pipe into the other end of it.

I was able to install the throttle body/IAC hose.

I was able to install the upper intercooler hose , and connect the plastic extension to the throttle body/IAC hose.

I have been completely unable to even get close to fitting the lower intercooler hose over the lower metal pipe, and haven't even tried the hose that links the OTE and lower metal pipe.

Does anyone have any tricks for these?

I've been using a hair dryer and soapy water. I heated the hoses in hot water first, but I guess near-boiling is next...

I really don't want to throw in the towel and put the remaining OEM ones back on, and I can't re-use the top coupler (turbo to OTE pipe) as it was torn when I inspected it before removal... HELP.

I used silicone spray and a small screwdriver. I was tough, but they all went on eventually. Since this was my first turbo car I assumed that the tight fit would be a better seal. FCP was great in supplying a revised TB hose with a IAC hose that was the correct length. The hard work is worth the better sealing over the stock rubber hoses.

I am going to try this today or this weekend.

To get the silicone hose on the intercooler top part... how do you get that top plastic piece off. I cant pull it up it is blocked by the plastic frame part.... ?

edit. Wow..I'm tired. I didn't even see the second page of this thread.:lol:

it's easier to get out if you loosen the two screws that bolt the radiator fan cowling to the front radiator support. If you loosen them halfway you can pull the radiator and cowling toward the engine slightly, that way you reduce the chance of breaking something

Also. OP pretty much all silicone hoses are tight or even very tight. If you can't get them on by heating them and using Auquanet or Wd40 on the inside then there may be a fitment issue, because that will normally do the trick. The 5mm thick silicone I use is nearly impossible to get on the turbo without some sort of lubricant. Use lubricant...goes right on.

I am sticking with Samco from now on.

I had nothing but issues with the Stylin crap and it seems that FCP is using the same supplier.

I wish they would sell the vaccum hoses kits thou.

Those were awesome.

Talk to Kristian and I am sure he could start carrying the vacuum kits since he is already carrying the molded hoses. Personally, I have always used hose technique. They carry nice ass hose, there price is always great, and their customer service has not failed me yet (made about 8 orders with them so far).

or just force it on. its not that bad

I'm thinking everyone who had an "easy" time with the hoses used Samco's.

These FCP hoses are a bit ch and a half.

I've managed to to get the turbo-OTE coupler installed and clamped, the throttle body/IAC installed and clamped (easiest of them all actually, even though the IAC isn't exactly sitting in it's factory position), and have the lower intercooler hose and "s" hose connected to the lower metal pipe, however I can't manage to finagle the pipe into position to attach the lower hose to the intercooler, or the "S" to the OTE pipe, let alone both.

I'm seriously considering biting the bullet, and going to the dealership in the morning to get OEM hoses for the last 2.

With the milage and condition of this car, and the complete lack of desire to really modify it for speed, I don't see the point in killing myself over the silicone.

This b.s. is making me really look forward to getting an E30 this summer to turn into a clean, quick, daily driver, with the S70 relegated to beater duty.
