Brake Light Problem

I recently took my dashboard apart to fix all the rattling. I thought I hooked everything back up correctly but I noticed that my brake lights only work when

my foot is on the peddle. I acctually got pulled over for it. But anyway is this most likely just something I didn't hook up correctly? I'm not sure exactly what wires/switches have to

do with the brake lights and I can't seem to figure it out.

Being I recently subscribed to this forum, there may be those here who know a specific Volvo bug/issue with this.

IMHO:

Scenario 1

You say your brake lights work. But you say you got pulled over.

Conclusion: Your tail lights aren't working.

Resolution:Check your fuse. You Shorted it and blew it.

Scenario 2

You say you had your dashboard apart, to fix rattling.

You say your brake lights work. But you say you got pulled over.

Your tail lights aren't working.

You checked your fuse, it is good.

Conclusion: You pulled or disturbed the harness to your light switch.

Resolution: Connector to your light switch is not secure. Find the easiest way to push it in.

That's all I got..Good Luck

Alright I really should have worded this differently.

My running tail lights don't work. Everything is hooked up correctly and

every connection behind the dash is accounted for and I still have no lights. The brake lights and

hazard lights all work in the rear. Bulbs are fine and I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the relay because

this problem arose at the same time I took out my dash. I just have no idea what to check for now.

first step would be check the voltage at the light bulbs. if it's 0 then keep moving upstream until you find the problem. if it's 10-14 then your bulbs are out or not seated properly. i am leaning towards you disconnected something or accidentally cut a line or you haven't checked the correct fuse.
