thewhiteguy1
http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y213/thewhiteguy1/?action=view¤t=d6fe6a5f.mp4 anyone know how to tune a truboost?? i have been researching all day, and can't really figure it out..unless my wastegate is supreme shit. gain is set at 43% wastegate pressure is 2psi (on the truboost) only hitting 5 psi, spiking 7 psi
Oreo931
Why is your WG pressure set so low?
thewhiteguy1
Why is your WG pressure set so low? don't have a pressure tester to see actual wastegate pressure, so i read you should start low and work your way up. i haven't had time to turn up the psi and test
Oreo931
Stock pressure is ~6psi IIRC. 4psi edit: nvm
Che'_Moderator
Stock pressure is ~6psi IIRC. Try like half that
s_moneh
i'm running straight wastegate boost right now, my stock is about 6psi, thats wat i'm boosting at...
Oreo931
Try like half that My bad. Stock is ~4psi. Although, it really depends on the engine.
Platinum 850
First off, this is just advice you can take it or leave it, i don't want to be blamed for any damage to your car. For obvious reasons do this at your own risk... I have no idea what condition your car, or maintenance upkeep, etc... Do you have a tune? What pressure are you trying to target? Do you have a wideband, or someway of monitoring what you are doing as you turn up the boost Every car is different but i ran the AEM Tru boost for about two years, I just recently upgraded to Turbosmart Eboost 2, anyways... lets say you are trying to target 15psi... Your physical actuator may have a setting of say 3-4psi (stock), which you can adjust, by tightening the travel, which in this case you don't want to do, you want to keep the stock length and the actuator as close to the stock setting as possible. you will be telling your solenoid, to tell your actuator at to open at a specific set point... 2psi is way too low, I would start at 5 psi and lower your duty cycle. So start off with a 5-7 psi setting on when you are telling your actuator arm to open, and start with a setting for your duty cycle of say 15%, and work up from there... the nice thing about the AEM is you can actually adjust the solenoid duty cycle of which ever pressure you are adjusting (lets say "A") by actively staying in it (hold down both buttons, for 2-3 seconds, then press the left button this takes you into the quick setting menu to control each of your two set points ("A" & "B") separately, lock in on which ever one you are setting by pressing both buttons momentarily and then begin adjusting as you go for a drive, I wouldn't worry about setting your boost in the lower gears, try and get a good run in third (i'm assuming yours is an auto) to set the boost, and hold the left and right buttons as you want to lower and/or raise the duty cycle, and effectively lowering or raising your boost, respectively. Also before you do any of this make sure you go through the owner's install and operations manual, and if you are unsure of anything just take tuning shop locally to assist, as there is a chance of you eminently damaging your engine if you have boost come on too soon or you don't have the proper safeties setup. The manual will detail the setup of the boost controller, and I'm going off of memory, so I apologize if i miss anything... You have already set your gate pressure, so you know how to enter the detailed menu, hold down both buttons for 2-3 seconds then once flashing begins, press both buttons again for a split seconds, it will cycle through the following options in the following order, as you press both buttons for a split second (if memory serves me correctly)... - Units (you select PSI, Bar, or kPa) - Scramble Setting (set your scramble boost duty cycle, if you even have a trigger setup, external wiring is needed for this feature). - Scramble duration (how long does the scramble duty stay engaged, again not necessary for standard operation as external wiring is necessary) - Sensor (you want to leave internal) - Alarm Setting (this is critical, set to no more than 15psi or just a hair over the setting you are trying to target, this one is very important to setup). - Gate Pressure (where you set your pressure for your wastegate to begin opening). - Graph (scale what the max is for your gauge readout) - Setting A (adjust duty cycle to target your pressure for this setpoint, between 1-99) - Setting B (adjust duty cycle to target your pressure for this setpoint, between 1-99) Good luck, and don't blow it up... Just in case here's the manual... AEM Tru Boost Manual

damitzmike
I run my duty cycle at 90% and alarm at 95%. wg is currently set to 8.5psi. I run about 19psi. I have been running this on a stock motor for 6 months. with a st custom tune. a super60 and white injectors
