Jack8745
picked up a set of 850r chrome door sills from a jy my car is all black completely debadged (except steering air bag and sparkplug cover) i go back and forth on installing these
beewerks
I like them. The first thing that pops out at you when you open the door is a nice and shiny 850 plate. It makes the car feel more high-end IMO. B)
T5power
i had previously thought they came on all 850's/x70's when i bought my car, cause mine had them when i bought it. but now having seen some volvos without them, it definitely looks much better when you have them. beewerks
What would look really cool is if we could easily cut out the stamped sections where the letters are and put a plastic inlay inside, then backlight it with a cool white or blue. I've heard of someone doing it, but I haven't seen it myself.
Jack8745
ok they will go on. whats the best tape to get these on ? some m3 stuff i imagine, any suggestions?ok went to install them got a question about what appears to be alignment marks at the bottom of them so the car they came off from had a different peice these stick to (instead of nothing under it said "volvo" when i pealed them off) and i didnt pay attention if it had alignment groves for this anyone installed these on a non R volvo. did you have to remove these marks? there also seems to be a big gap under when i test fit them and the only way to get rid of it would be to cut these off hope this makes sense thanks jack

beewerks
Hmm, the ones I installed where on my V70 and didn't have those tabs, it must be for the 850's only. I remember having a plastic body colored panel that said Volvo on my 850, it almost seems like that should be popped out before you put the sill on. Do the alignment tabs seem to line up with that plastic panel if you remove it? Might just be easier to cut the tabs off though.

I've heard of someone doing it, but I haven't seen it myself. that was actually a factory option for the S80's. They had an accessories book at my local dealer and for like $280 you could get those. I ALMOST bought them for my s80 when the guy was gonna give me a good deal but I decided against it... Probably would have been pretty cool though. Someone has posted pics of a factory option that had blue LED backlighting, I'll try to find a picture or link in a bit. EDIT: Turns out they were from an S80, mounted on a Gen 1 V70R. Clicky linky, picture is in the first post on the 2nd page.
beewerks
Holy cow! $495 for all 4 blue backlighted door sills?! http://steingoldvolvo.ecrater.com/p/3087906/volvo-s80-illuminated-sill-molding If all I had was a CNC machine I'd mill one out and then if it turned out, make a business of it modding the ones you guys have lol.
