2000 V70 Codes P1601, P1113

I have a 2000 V70 NA with 135K miles with a CEL.

It was throwing 3 codes. The first which was P0135 front O2 sensor which has been replaced and has not come back. The other two are

P1601 ECM/TCM Serial communication error

I also found this definition on V70R.com

P1601 Throttle unit internal Fault Faulty signal

P1113 IAT Sensor Open/Short

I have found little documentation on these other than the definitions above in a couple of code list threads here and on Swedespeed. The second I assume is a bad IAT sensor (does it even have one?) but the first doesn't tell me much and anything involving an ECM fault on an ME7 car scares me a little bit.

The car itself seems to run fine. It definitely smelled rich when the O2 code was on and seemed to have a drop off in mpg.

Other than that its provided little trouble other than an occasional starting issue where is seems to flood on start. It'll start briefly then die. Then I'll have crank it over for about 10-15 seconds until it starts to catch give it gas and it starts. But thats been going on well before these codes showed up.

Given the lack of documented issues on these 2 codes I figure my next step is to take it to a shop that can pull the volvo DTC's but I figured its worth a shot to check here first.

Thanks in advance.

When I looked up the P1113 code on the Equus website:

http://www.equus.com/Dtc

I get "Ambient Air Temp".

P0113 on that site is "Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High Input".

I thought that the IAT sensor was only on the turbo engines, and yours is na.

So ambient air temp sensor would make more sense.

I don't see how to edit my last posts, sorry.

According to the Haynes manual for the 2000 V70, on the non-turbo engine,

the MAF sensor includes an air temp sensor. Looking at parts, the MAF for

the non-turbo is different than the MAF for the turbo.

And there is also an outside air temp sensor on the V70. But that may be just

for the outside temp gauge.

Thats a start, will probably do a voltage drop test too in regards to the ETM fault.

If the code is really for ambient air temp sensor, I wonder if its one of the two sensors that mount behind the bumper grilles. I've had one of those hanging down a while and I think it finally fell off.
