Livvakt Posted April 25, 2011 Report Share Posted April 25, 2011 So yeah. Couldn't find anything too conclusive here with the ALMIGHTY SEARCH, but I figured I'd put it out there and see what's what. NOTE: Obviously, I know "anything can happen with the right amount of money!" That's not what I'm curious about. So there are plenty of parts that swap between 850s and x70s. I know there are some P2 S60 parts that work with P2 V70s/S80s. What I'm curious about is if any of the parts from the 850/x70 generation will get their swap on with the P2s, ESPECIALLY in the muddled years of 1999 and 2000 when all kinds of crazy was going on. Obviously some won't (ecu's, gauges, headlights)... but what about other stuff? Suspensions? Eh? Discuss. ... Or don't. Either way. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I brought this up on VolvoXC.com once. http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=111111&postcount=3 You can see from the little chart I made on there that the part numbers change in years when the chassis didn't change, so various parts of the suspension setup would be compatible. The lower control arms are definitely different though, and I'm pretty confident the struts are different too, though I haven't looked into that. I suppose it's possible that you could bolt a P1 control arm and hub carrier up to a P2 and use the struts from the P1 but I haven't looked into that either and I'm not sure why you want to unless the parts are crazy cheaper. As for your first question, what exactly are you trying to figure out compatibility for? Wheels? (mostly compatible) Interior trim? (common sense should tell you that most of that won't swap over, because they're designed completely differently) Engine parts (depends) etc... Yeah, lack of parts for the S80 sucks... but from what I had found there isn't much that works on an S80 from an X70... same thing the other way around... small shit like rear armrest, sidemarkers and some other stuff work, but not a lot surprisingly. Big hope was that maybe, with minor tweaks, some of the cheaper (a relative term, lol) coilover options (D2) would be able to work. Looks like it's KW Variant 1s or bust, lol.
