i searched and found all of the horror stories about his packing methods before I decided to go with ST. I insisted that he use a box instead of the non-padded envelope that he typically uses. he'll charge you extra for having to ship your ECU back in a box that you provide, but WELL WORTH IT.

WTF kind of ghetto-a$$ company charges a customer EXTRA to ship the item they bought properly!?:rolleyes:

Wow. That's beyond ridiculous. FYI, if they have the ability to ship USPS (which I'm sure they do), a small Priority Box is FREE and shipping is about $5 for 2-3 day service.

Gonna throw this out there... because seems like someone else was wanting the answer.

with a tune.

which is the best idea to run as boost control.

mbc or stock boost controller?

regarding the fact an mbc/ebc allows boost to come on faster or what ever. just which is the better (safer) idea

I use the stock controller with an MBC wired in parallel to limit boost spikes

(set the MBC to open just above the max boost expected to limit spikes). That seems to

work very well. You can also reduce max boost with this configuration but you can't go past

the max boost of the tune.

So you're running the MBC strictly as a precautionary measure?

My link

As of 2008 he was charging $20 for return overnight shipping(which is reasonable...but not if he's using an envelope with no padding, that thread above still makes me laugh). he charged me an extra $15 to ship back my ecu using the box that i used to send him..

Yes. I have a speed tuning stage 2 17 PSI tune and it will over boost past 20 PSI.

(Note: This tune is currently benched and I'm running a less aggressive tune but the

MBC still helps since boost goes right to the desired level and holds).

The MBC responds very fast limiting the over boost. The stock boost control (bcs/tcv) then

allows the boost to come on slower and more controlled (my preference) compared

to just using an MBC.

i believe thats what hes saying. My question is does running them parallel affect the boost onset at all?

Can't really tell any difference. (But with just an MBC controlling things it clearly boosts sooner.)

There is a bit more vacuum tube plumbing so I assume response might be a bit slower. But any associated

delay is worth the cost since over-boosting was a problem (especially on 91 octane California gas).

Note I have a 5 speed manual and I find boost comes on pretty fast even 100% stock.

Its pretty easy to switch between MBC only, stock BCS/TCV, and MBC in parallel with BCS/TCV and experiment

to see what you like.
